statistics and connections
– A picture perfect daughter born into the picture perfect family. Her family is extremely focused on appearances, so she was raised to fit the mold, and until recently did so without complaining.
– Throughout her childhood, Seohyeon pushed down what she wanted / felt in order to try and get people’s approval (which didn’t work). She was a sheltered child with an hourly schedule, so didn’t really have a life of her own. She could only have the Right friends, attend the Right events and schools, and behave in a manner befitting of the only daughter of the renowned Politician Im. She also doesn’t like conflict, so that was a large factor in her behavior.
– Luckily for her, she enjoys doing some of the things her parents required of her - piano and ballet, in particular, have become her greatest passions. She has always been a daydreamer, and when music is involved everything around her just fades away.
– Most of her childhood was just spent doing what she was told. Though Seohyeon didn’t ever say anything to her parents, it did begin to wear on her. Her entire life was laid out by her parents. As soon as she graduated, they enrolled her in a prestigious school and expected her to complete a degree in classical music. After that, she was expected to make an advantageous match and spend the rest of her life playing the dutiful wife and hostess. But when the time actually came for her to attend university, Seohyeon slowly began to move away from her parent’s plans.
– Ironically enough, it was the ‘friends’ who had been chosen because of their family ties who caused the events that would completely change Seohyeon’s life. Kids with too much money and too few boundaries tend to get into trouble, and they were no exception. Though she would have much preferred to be at the studio or playing the piano, Seohyeon had difficulty refusing them and was often pulled into their partying. It was there that she met Jang Minho.
– Seohyeon knew that she would most likely cave to her parent’s demands and that whoever her future husband was, he would not appreciate her being in a committed relationship. So she did her best to keep it casual - but that failed almost as soon as it began. It was almost like a moth being drawn into a flame; they grew closer and closer, and soon enough, their budding friendship turned physical.
– After a few months of back and forth, it seemed as though life had other plans. They moved in two very different circles, and the only time they could easily see each other was at one of those parties. Their lifestyles just didn’t match, and the two started growing apart. Seohyeon had just about accepted that their time together was at an end when she began experiencing a bunch of the symptoms of being pregnant.
– Both tests she took had the same result: positive.
– The situation only just got worse once her family found out. Her parents wanted her to get rid of the child, but she refused. Rather than let an illegitimate child stain the family reputation, they arranged for her to ‘transfer universities to one out of the country.’ In reality, this meant that they practically disowned her. She was banned from the family home and forbidden to make contact with them.
– Discarded by her family, she has the freedom to make choices for the first time in her life. Even though she is looking forward to being able to do so, she’s also v insecure about her ability to make those decisions (after all, the last time she chose to do something on her own she ended up pregnant). She’s currently living with Minho, and they’re both doing their best to figure out what to do next.
– She’s a bit of a mess right now tbh, and still cares way too much about making other people happy. Having her family (whose approval she’s wanted her whole life) just get rid of her like that has shaken her up, but she’s determined to make the best of the situation.
