Name: Dec Hansen Pronouns: he/him Era: First Order Appears in: Join the Resistance trilogy
Dec Hansen was a scavenger and tinkerer who, with his droid "brother" AG-90, joined the Resistance as part of J-Squadron. He was a charming troublemaker and fiercely loyal to his friends. While not made explicit in canon, co-author Ben Blacker stated that he wrote Dec as a gay character, alluding to this through Dec's story about being "different from everyone else" and quotes other characters ("I've never known him to like a girl. It's just not how he is.")
Fun fact: Dec is the first gay character in a Star Wars children's book!
Check out Dec's video profile here.

When this series was first announced, a lot of people were like, âWhy would you combine Laura and Wanda? Thatâs so random.â And I felt like -- and this feeling was totally validated by the series -- the thematic overlap between these two characters was obvious. (Hint: Itâs this.)
Trusk Berinato -- who looks more like a guy whoâs eaten too much colloidal silver than an alien -- makes some interesting accusations of Leia here. By âyer daddy,â he means Bail Organa, an old acquaintance of his, not Darth Vader, since her biological fatherâs identity is still a secret at this point. Unintentionally, Trusk contrasts Bail and Leia with Padme and Luke, who both insist that there is good in Vader. Trust argues that, by their pessimism, Bail and Leia make people behave worse than they normally would. I appreciate this attempt to give Bail and Leia more personality, but, in context, this seems more like a case of someone trying to blame someone else for his own bad behavior.
