Conflicted on the whole thing. Sometimes I put it on & think it looks cool...but mostly I just feel like a painted clown. I understand it's uses if I were a mating primate in heat, etc. But I'm not so why would I want to draw attn to my lips. People staring at my lips isn't appealing. Maybe the more you wear it, the less of a novelty it becomes so people don't notice as much?! Either way, it sucks that often a stylized/well put together woman who wears lipstick is seen as more capable or caring about herself more b/c of the time/effort/though she's put into her appearance. I get how those two are related but it just sucks that it has to be about something so ultimately, pointless & that I find very boring/uninteresting. I.E. Keeping up w/ fashion, learning how to accessorize- (now you have to buy something else to store/organize all all these trendy, fragile accessories you need), learning how to do hairstyles & practicing them so it looks good. None of it is easy- trust me. It takes A LOT of work. There's so much other stuff I'd rather spend my time doing & thinking about. When I read the statistic on how much women spend annually on beauty products as opposed to higher education- I was so embarrassed for all of us. Not even repeating those numbers. Sad part is- even though I don't like it & see how it's damaging, I still do it without much thought. Almost like a robot. Guess that's one of our crosses to bear as women. Maybe it'd be easier to bear if hadn't been given to us without our say. It was more of a "Here...hold this" kinda situation. Still holding. Is it okay to give it back yet?!
