Story:

Tanagerwing had never been particularly close to their mother.

Perhaps that’s why, when Begoniakit was born, they didn’t quite know what to do with her.

Eventually Snowscale had taken her in, saying kindly that such a sweet kit could only be a gift from Starclan.

Unfortunately, this inspired them to pursue a less than truthful approach to their career as the Clan’s medicine cat.

Many moons after Begoniakit was born, a Starclan cat appeared and told them that the the newborn Perchkit was destined for greatness. They thought otherwise.

They took Begonialeaf aside and told her that her newborn son was destined for nothing but trouble. That he would spell Thunderclan’s downfall.

Surprisingly, Begonialeaf actually believed her.

They could barely believe it when Snowstar brought the emaciated Perchkit to their den and begged for help.

Tanagerwing had helped the kit, then sent him back to the den, where the neglect worsened until the poor kit looked like barely a scrap of fur.

This bedraggled appearance followed Perchpaw into his apprenticeship, and Tanagerwing continued to manipulate their daughter as Perchpaw’s behavior worsened.

Eventually, they went too far though, and Perchpaw’s corpse was found at Snakerocks.

They settled into the elder’s den and coughed once or twice. Then no more.

Story: 

She had been so excited to bring her firstborn into the world. Until Tanagerwing pulled her to one side after Perchkit was born, telling her that they had received a message from Starclan.

“That kit will be trouble,” they had croaked. “He’ll grow up to destroy you and your mate.”

In a panic, Begonialeaf began to avoid her newborn like the plague, only returning to nurse him once or twice a day. She only--reluctantly-- fed him more when the leader was brought in to scold her. As Perchpaw grew, Begonialeaf avoided him as much as possible, seeing as he was obviously growing into the prophecy. 

He was a menace, and Begonialeaf confided in Tanagerwing, who told her that, although Perchpaw was destined for trouble, she might be able to help put an end to his trouble before he could become a threat to all the Clans. 

She told Tansystripe her plan, and her beloved mate had dumped her on the spot, calling her a foxheart. But that didn’t stop her. 

On the night of the gathering, Begonialeaf stayed behind, nursing Tigerkit. She saw Perchpaw sneaking out, but didn’t stop him. When his body was found the next day at Snakerocks, half-eaten by an adder, she didn’t feel regret, just relief.

A long time coming, Perch's bio mom!

Was she neglectful and a terrible mother? Yes. Was she also a child of abuse and manipulated by her own parent? Also yes.

I wonder if she ever sought out Perch if she ever learned that she was manipulated and her son was never actually going to be evil and only turned up in the DF because of her.

I doubt that he would want anything to do with her, especially after having his own kits and knowing how hard it would be to hurt them like she hurt him.

I could see it in two versions:

So, basically, my idea was that Webstripe would kill Tartail after falling in love with Lupinefrost and learning what Tartail did to her. He also kills Tanagerwing after learning about the Begonialeaf thing and maybe Frondecho after bonding with Stumppaw.

She reached down and groomed the little tom vigorously, stopping when he stopped nursing and clawed blindly at her nose. “You’ll be Tansykit.” She said gently. She chuckled and turned to his sister, grooming her more gently. “And you’ll be Spiderkit.”

She paused when she noticed that her grooming didn’t move the baby’s fur, and a surge of horror wrenched at her gut when she realized what was happening.

“No.. I still have to take care of them!” She yelped, curling around them as if to protect her babies from her fate.

Spiderkit raised her head and sniffed the air. The warm milk-scent was gone, and so was the big warmth. She could feel a small warmth, but where was the big warmth? Did it move away? Where was the milk?” She mewed loudly, hoping that Big Warmth would come back, but there was no such luck, and she was stuck with Small Warmth.

She hoped that Big Warmth would come back soon.
