yeah that’s what i’m thinking. although like i mentioned, the phil tweet (x) so there’s some possible circumstantial evidence to support that. i’m sure there’s more out there in like the dailybooths and formspring answers and 2009 stuff.

the fact that they’ve been run into the ground price wise is what happens when you have an item that has an unlimited chance at being generated, even if that time frame occurs for two weeks out of a single year ( see gaia online’s insane gold economy as another example ). also consider the fact that everyone who was probably actively playing fr at the time thought that regardless of the fact that they weren’t retiring they would still somehow retain enough value, like the sprites beforehand, to make it worth buying multiple during the specific festival each bear was introduced. hell, even before the second notn where they were re-introduced most bears were only going for like 30k each max. they’ve literally never been valuable and even retiring them won’t help unless fr can somehow survive another 4 years or so until maybe half of the ones in circulation now are in inactive lairs

that’s totally fair! it’s def a name i take as like....more silly and cute than anything? so like if they used it i would expect it to be more in that cutesy context. although i’m not sure how often i think they get “cutesy”. i still lean more heavily toward the “insults as terms of endearment” side of things lmao
