Spotlight: Alternative January Kanzashi While the yearly kanzashi are always in the spotlight, it’s important not to forget the kanzashi that the maiko of Kamishichiken and Gion Higashi wear too. Often featuring the same design elements as the other kagai, they’re unique in that they don’t need to feature kangiku as a base. They still use the same motifs that the other kagai pull from, but they feature them in unique combinations.
