Spartacus: House of Ashur
Things are starting to pick up in House of Ashur with the political intrigue and Ashur’s new champion gaining skill each week.
I’m like 90% sure that the attack by the Cilician’s was arranged by Ashur so he and Korris could rescue Cossutia and Viridia, gain their favour and secure a place in the games for his gladiators. It’s such a classic Batiatus move that Ashur would’ve been part of back in the day.
Hilara is getting a bit too comfortable acting like she’s the domina of the house instead of just another slave, I feel like she’s gonna have either a rude awakening or a steep fall off the edge of the cliff by the end of the season.
Tarchon is starting to piss me off, he’s acting like Crixus in the first half of Blood and Sand but without the prowess to back up his ego. Crixus was an undefeated champion who pulled himself up from being a stone hauler destined for the mines to one of the best gladiator’s in the republic. Tarchon is a nepo baby who thinks he’s the best because his father was a champion gladiator in his prime but he’s not even set foot in the arena or won any battles. Then all he does is find fault in others instead of owning his mistakes and complaining to Celadus about it. Hopefully he wises up but I don’t think that’ll happen until his father dies.
I’m really liking Celadus, so he’s probably going to die soon. He was a better Doctore to Achillia than Korris, letting her fight a style that suited her best and giving her proper instruction and tips on how to fight three opponents at once. He’s a good man and he’s trying his best to prepare Tarchon for the arena but it’s falling on deaf ears. I liked the bit of history that he defeated one of Titus Batiatus’s champions back in the day so he has ties to the ludus he’s sworn to now.
Achillia is on the Spartacus path of being the ludus underdog that’s hated by all the other gladiators at first only to become their champion. She’s improving her fighting style and seems to be getting on friendly terms with Celadus, would like to see that friendship blossom. I’m also waiting to see if she starts an affair with the slave girl Messia, those lingering looks from the balcony usually lead to forbidden romance.
I wonder what this new Caesar will be like compared to the original from War of the Damned. He’s definitely gonna ruffle more than a few feathers in Capua and he’s brought his wife so she’ll probably clash with Cossutia and her clique.

“A man must accept his fate or be destroyed by it.”
Quintus Lentulus Batiatus- Spartacus
That part in Spartacus where Batiatus and Lucretia play their 15 year younger self and they sort of pull it off but then they just put Good Solonius in a slightly different wig and call it a day
