But when you try to explain this to your friends, they just tell you you’re being silly. That the two of you are perfect for each other. They’re determined to get you together – even going so far as to put your name in for class rep, so you can spend time with Namjoon, who reps your rival class.

You squeaked when the teacher called your name out for the vote, and promptly turned in your chair to glare at your friends who sent you grins and thumbs ups. You can’t really count it a win when you were the only person people could vote for in your unenthused class.

Now, you have to spend your Wednesday afternoons sorting paperwork and discussing classroom issues. It wouldn’t be so bad if you actually had an inkling of what you were doing. If your friends think you’re going to impress Namjoon while fumbling your words and making a fool of yourself, they’re dead wrong.

All of this is made worse with Namjoon’s gaze on you. You’ve been noticing it more and more often lately – fixed to you when you stand up to talk, and when you sit down, listening to the other reps debate menu options for vegan vampires. Your mortal body isn’t made to withstand a gaze like Kim Namjoon’s, and you don’t know how much more you can endure.

It takes all the courage you can muster to open up the door and greet him again this Wednesday. With a deep breath, you step inside. “H-hi.” You can’t even say one word without your tongue tangling in knots.

Namjoon looks up from the book he’s reading at his desk and raises a hand. He’s the only one in the room. “It seems it’s just us. Everyone else is out to support the mermaid swimming gala.”

You tap your finger tips together awkwardly. “Was that today? I don’t keep up with sports.”

“Me neither. Hence…” Namjoon holds up his book, and then turns his attention back to it.

You go to sit on the opposite side of the desk, sliding your papers onto the old oak surface, scuffed from the hundreds of supernatural creatures that have sat there before you. There’s a scorch mark on the corner… caused by what, you have no idea. Maybe a fire imp? Or a pet phoenix? You scratch at the black mark absent-mindedly, waiting for Namjoon to say something. You haven’t spent much time alone with him, and now you don’t know what to do with yourself… except blame your friends for throwing you into this mess.

At last you garner the confidence to clear your throat, and say, “So… um… for this meeting I was thinking we should discuss the Halloween Ball?” You frame it as a question.

Rather than responding, Namjoon throws back another question: “What kind of nymph are you?”

“Excuse me?” You balk under his stare.

“You know… water nymph? Forest nymph?”

“Oh…” you flush, and push your hair behind your ear, before answering, “I’m a forest nymph.”

“I thought so,” Namjoon smiles, “That’s great!” With his eyes crinkled and dimples showing he looks a little less intimidating.

You furrow your brow and ask, “Why is it great?”

“Because, as a forest nymph you can help me with my botany. It’s my worst subject, and I have a test coming up…”

You open and close your mouth, unsure how to respond. At last you say, “Shouldn’t we be doing… class rep stuff?”

“Maybe… but there are only two of us here so we won’t get much done. Besides… I’d rather take a walk to the greenhouse and get to know you a little better, than sit here and pretend to plan the Ball, and end up not really talking at all…”

He keeps rambling on, but one phrase sticks in your mind… “You want to get to know me better?”

His words scramble to a halt, and he turns his gaze back to you, eyes piercing and intense once more. “Well, yes! You’re one of the few nymphs that attend our school. It would be lovely to learn more about you.”

You blush at this, and drop your stare to the floor, where you can’t bend under his gaze.

“Okay,” you decide, standing up so fast you almost knock your papers off the desk, “I can show you what I know about growing potion herbs. But I’ll let you in on a secret…” you lean across the desk, a sudden wave of confidence surging through you as you dig inside yourself for a little piece of magic, “I normally cheat.” You hold out your hand, where a delicate bud unfolds from your palm, growing up and outwards, curling into a pink rose. “Botany’s pretty easy when you can do this…” You suddenly feel embarrassed, showing off your power.

But Namjoon’s completely enthralled, eyes stuck on the new born flower. You hold out your hand to him, and he takes the rose from you, leaving a few sparks of magic crackling across your skin. “It’s beautiful…” Seeing Namjoon like this, you realise, he’s not scary at all. His open-mouthed wonder reminds you of the first time you saw him, while you were running late to alchemy class, and caught sight of him on the other side of the courtyard, watching in fascination as a couple of frogs hopped across the paving stones, curiosity sparkling in his opal eyes. It was only a fleeting glimpse, but ever since, every mention of his name has stirred a flurry of feelings inside you.

With a smile, you give his blazer sleeve a small tug. “Shall we go to the greenhouse, then? I can show you how non-nymphs grow plants.”

“Of course,” he smiles. You walk to the door, while he carefully pins your rose to his blazer pocket, and follows after you.

You don’t tell him, but for nymphs, roses are a symbol of love. And by pinning it to his shirt, he just accepted your confession.

Author’s note: Maybe I got a little carried away here... but it was so fun coming up with a magic school and imagining all the things the supernatural creatures would do there!

it’s like rlly private and there arent many ppl invited but he gets nervous in the last minute

like he was chill and all but five minutes before he just cracks

“ohymygod what if she ran away?”

he’ll be sweating balls      

and like the night before he didn’t get much sleep either so he’ll be panicking because

what if the wedding goes wrong because of him or what if something happens

but like all his worries wipe away when he see you

because you just look so beautiful and you’re there and you’re about to tie the knot and he just gets emotional 

and his eyes are watering and as he says his vows, his voice stutters and it’s just emotional

later on, as you both stand next to each other as you look at your guests, he’ll pull you closer

and he’ll whisper “i don’t know what i did to deserve this” and his eyes will water again but so will yours and it’s just an emotional day

he’ll take you somewhere where you both wanted to go for honeymoon

like the Magdalen Islands or Quebec City in Canada

you guys spending your times mostly sightseeing or trying new cultural things like foods or visiting the local museums or just places with beautiful scenery 

if you visited, he’ll take you to Old Montreal during the evening, because the place is bustling then and the setting sun casts the perfect light, and he’s also excited, because he probably can take more photos 

but that’s only part of the reason why, because mostly he just wants to try doing cute things or take you in a boat ride

he isn’t one to want to have different and various traditions with you, except one 

and every year, on your anniversary, you both go somewhere special and you both try to decide on one small thing to buy

and you guys do this every year until you’ve visited almost everywhere you wanted to go, and you guys restart

like he’s soft with everyone he cares about but with you, he’s softer

he remembers every detail about you and every story you tell him !!
