Banafsh died last week. He had nerve sheath cancer in his hips and could barely walk, an The he got lymphoma. He was in a lot of pain, and the only thing he wanted was to be with me. The morning he died he snuggled in with me on the bed, and when I reached for my glasses he put his head in my hand instead.
I stayed like that with him for as long as my bladder would allow. Not long enough. Not nearly long enough.
I am bereft without him. I know that he had a soul, because in addition to his own I gave him a piece of mine.
