Hey darling!

For most of my pictures I have used either my iPhone 6s or my canon 450d with my basic kit lens, for some of the very newest ones I have used my canon 60d which I got about a month ago with the same lens. If you are talking about actual film photography and not just taking pictures with a DSLR (so actual film and the whole development process etc.), for that I use an old Pentax super me which I got from my mother, it’s a very very basic film camera and very old.

I just went through deciding what new camera to buy so I know it can be extremely overwhelming. I can’t really give you any specific advice because you just have to research different cameras and read up on stuff to figure out what is the best for you. It’s very generic advice but it really isn’t about the gear most of the time, at least in the sense that you probably will not need the newest camera no matter how tempting it is. My 450d served me just fine and it was extremely old, I have also survived using just kit lenses aka the “cheap” lenses that come with the cameras.

One tip is to definitely buy used if you decide to get a DSLR, because that will save you so much money. Remember to ask/look for the shutter count of the camera because that is even more important than things like surface scratches which might make you doubt the camera but won’t really affect how well it works. 

You can also take brilliant pictures with just a phone! my 6s serves me well and sometimes updating to a new phone with a great camera costs just as much as a new dslr. I do totally get wanting to buy an actual dslr though, especially if you want to properly get into photography.
