I get asked all the time... "Why do you grip so high on the rail? Why not grab the magwell or a foregrip underneath?" Well... the higher my hand is on the bore, the faster I can drive the gun target to target and control recoil. Doing some speed reload practice with my 13.7, prototype warbelt, and a S&S Precision SMR rifle mag carrier. There is TONS of debate over how to reload a rifle. Do you chamber check? Un-stock the rifle from your shoulder? Use a Bad-Lever device? Use charging handle instead of bolt release? Or... (Gasp) do you mag flip? Go ahead and debate all you want on this post. Just remember... environment and gear can dictate what methods must be used. And at the end of the day... what is the ultimate goal? To get the rifle back up and running. If you can do that in under two seconds flipping your rifle upside down, juggling it, tossing your mag in the air... awesome. More power to you if that method gets the job done. I'm not the fastest rifle reloader. Nor will I claim to be. This is a comfortable and consistent speed for me right now in January 2016. But... it will be different in the months to come.
