AMERIKA Serikat dikabarkan menawarkan Indonesia untuk menjadi lokasi MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) pesawat angkut C-130 Hercules se-Asia. Hal itu diungkapkan Menteri Pertahanan (Menhan) RI Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin seusai bertemu Menteri Perang AS, Pete Hegseth saat bertemu di Pentagon, Washington, AS, 13 April lalu.

“Dia (Pete Hegseth) menawarkan, dan ini tidak ada di negara ASEAN, dia menawarkan, ‘bagaimana kalau pemeliharaan C-130 di seluruh Asia saya pusatkan di Indonesia atas biaya kami’,” kata Sjafrie dalam rapat kerja bersama Komisi I DPR RI di Kompleks Parlemen, Senayan, Jakarta Pusat, Selasa (19/5).

Saat menanggapi hal tersebut, Anggota Komisi I DPR RI, TB Hasanuddin, meminta pemerintah berhati-hati untuk menjadikan Bandara Kertajati, Jawa Barat sebagai pusat maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) pesawat C-130/Hercules.
