"Well, for starters, I would..."

For a second he lost his idea as his nose picked up an interesting fragrance. A new fragrance in the room. Just as Will was taking off his coat.

"You smell differently," he noticed, reflecting upon the subtle notes. He couldn't determine if it was just as bad as the previous one or worse.

"Ah, this?" Will asked pointing to himself casually. "Yeah, I had someone over last night and her perfume ended up all over my clothes. A bit obnoxious if you ask me. Where do you want me to put the apples?"

Hannibal remained stuck at the part about a random woman sleeping with Will last night. He couldn't even mask his surprise.

He remained still, staring at him, his previous playful smile fading as Will lifted the bag of apples.

Then what had been all their flirting and teasing for? How could Will reveal something of such a weight in such a calm manner.

"The apples, Hannibal."

"You had a woman over."

"Are you okay?" Will asked and arched an eyebrow. "Perhaps you should smile or lift your arms, you look like you're about to have a stroke."

Hannibal dissociated from Will's questions and started plotting. He would find out the woman's identity. He would make sure she doesn't pay Will another visit. He would have to get inside Will's car to check his GPS history from last night and early morning to see where she was living. An easy task.

"I was kidding. Jeez, it's the first time in my life when I'm scared of you."

Hannibal blinked for the first time in 5 minutes.

"Sorry?"

"No woman. Well, no woman in my house, at least. A lady's son got murdered and she hugged me today after we told her we found the killer. Her perfume is still lingering."

"Then why would you say that?" Hannibal asked, not giving an absolute fuck about the lady.

"Because I wanted to see your reaction," he replied smirking. "Because you hate sharing me."

"I will not deny that. Joke's on you, Will, I'm not built to feel embarrassment, I'm very much aware of how I feel about you."

"The apples?" He asked, shaking the bag again.

"Forget about the apples," Hannibal said, a victorious smile returning to his lips. "You wanted a reaction and I hate to disappoint."

Will sighed, regretting his previous joke. "So that means we are not having dinner soon."
