Babe Paley... As Truman said, "If she wasn't so perfect, she would be a perfect woman." Her fame began in 1934 when she was invited to the White House for a dance party. She was one of the sought-after beauties of the "it girl" movement of the period. And she began to be referred to as the embodiment of beauty and style in every magazine, including the pages of Vogue, of which she later became one of the editors. Erwin Blumenfeld describes his admiration for Babe with the sentence: "Her skin was so radiant that only Velasquez would have dared to paint her." She did not serve the monist goals of Moda and always managed to preserve her originality. Babe, who loves fashion but doesn't like to be in fashion (at least according to what was said afterwards), was very difficult to admire and was one of the sole aims of designers like Charles James, Chanel, Hubert de Givenchy or Valentino.
