I keep thinking about the fact that Thorin probably thought Kili had survived.
He saw Fili die, they all did. But Thorin most likely thought that at least kili would still have a chance to survive the battle. He didn't see him in his final moments, he was busy with his own fight against Azog.
What did he feel when he got to Mahal hall's and saw both of his nephews already waiting there for him...
Would he feel disappointed? Angry? Perhaps even guilty? Or sad?

This whole fight scene is a masterpiece.
And needless to say, he lives.

Both in the War of the Rohirrim and in the Battle of the Five Armies, both Hera and Thorin, show relief after the deaths of Wulf and Azog. At this point both characters lost loved ones, Hera lost her two brothers and father to Wulf's war, and Thorin, lost his grandfather and nephews to Azog. I believe the difference is, Hera felt a little guilty, because she tried to spare Wulf until he made his choice in the end. Thorin, felt nothing but relief and peace knowing he finally killed the orc who haunted him.
Yet both scenes show a moment of quiet after the war was done.
Rewatching The Hobbit trilogy in hour long chunks like a miniseries.
"Episode 9" The Last Stage
Pretty much sums up the series as a whole. Cozy, grand, and full of personality at its best. Chaotic, unfocused, and over-the-top at its worst.
