Last night mumsy and I got to hang out with the Olympic Gold Medalist @AmyJoyWilliams and her giant bling. What did she win this medal for? Skeleton Racing, AKA that crazy business where people lie flat on a baking tray and fly head first down an icy tunnel at speeds in excess of 90mph. Now what amazed me the most about her story was she firstly started off as a runner and somehow transitioned into this madness on the back of a chance meeting in a gym with a young lady who told her to pop down and give it a go. Secondly after only trying the sport a few times she placed higher than any other GB Athlete in the trials then changed her Arts degree to a Sports degree so she could stay at Bath University near a push start track. THEN due to their being no funding in the sport she used her student loan to travel to a 2 week training camp on an army base in the back end of Norway. When I asked her why she did it all her response was a simple one, you only live once and you have to grasp every opportunity you have. Now at my age of 21 I may be a little old to try my hand at qualifying for the next games but I know some of you young bucks still have time. You never know where an opportunity may take you so be open, try, try and try again...... #ThisIsLife #Olympics #Gold #Winter #RDC #RDCWest #RunDemCrew #Skeleton #Running #Fitness #AWawards14 #Westminster #Vancouver ( @SkeletonAmy ) (at Lord's Cricket Ground)
