Hello! May I have 2, 6, & 7 for the fic writer ask pleeeeease? (for the one specific fic, Keeping Score!)
2. What is your favorite paragraph from (Keeping Score)? Is there a reason it’s your favorite?
So it's hard to say without rereading the whole thing, but the one that came to mind was this one from chapter 4 (yes it's from the smut 😆🫣):
After a while it was all rhythms. His heart in his ears, presto. Mickey’s pulse against his fingertips in fluttery counterpoint. The thrust of his hips a solid beat, allegro ma non troppo. Steady. Best of all, Mickey’s voice on the offbeats, pleasure-filled staccato sighs and groans and breathy swearing “fuck, fuck, fuck”.
I had a lot of fun with musical metaphors throughout this fic, but especially in this scene. I went totally overboard and I'm not even sorry. This paragraph was in my head for a while before I got to writing it, and I was pleased with how it turned out.
6. What is your favorite type of feedback to receive (favorites/kudos, comments, DMs, complete and utter silence in the pursuit of remaining unperceived?)? If comments or DMs or anything else involving a reader writing, do you have a particular type of feedback that excites you more than other types?
I love it all, obviously, but I have to go with comments. I love comments they are joy and food. Nutritious and delicious.
And again, while all comments are gratefully received and lapped up like the attention whore I am, my favourites are the really long juicy comments where someone essentially live blogs the fic with quotes and reactions and/or thoughts. They make me grin so hard, and commenters who do this are secretly competing to be my best friend ever (😘).
7. Share a line or paragraph you’ve written that you don’t think will ever actually be posted in anything! (Or, if you don’t hoard cut sentences and passages like I do, share anything you want that has yet to see the light of day!)
So I do hoard cut sentences, and every one of my fics has a companion file named <fic name>_excised. But... Most of it tends to be stuff I rework into the fic. I had a look last night and couldn't find anything worthy of sharing in the stuff I found. So I'm gonna go with something from a fic I may or may not ever post... I still like the idea but I started it before Keeping Score and it got very derailed.
Mickey was almost certain Ian’s eyes—rimmed with dark eyeliner—found him as he made a sweeping turn around the edge of the ice, alternating between forwards and backwards skating before twisting into another spin. There was a reaction to that fleeting eye contact, deep in Mickey’s gut. He bit his lip, watching the routine. Convincing himself he was watching the competition, and that the heat he was feeling was nothing more than the usual pre-performance nerves.
