Duang just being the most autistic boy ever, trying to guess at what's going on constantly because he can't read Qin but is also just not worried about that and so will ask until he makes the right connections and how much his entire body responds to everything and how he clings to ideas and how much he loves and I just adore him. Sincerely adore him.
the way Riley Matthew’s was so pressed about Farkle possibly being autistic is crazy. Like girl have you met yourself?
-hyper empathetic
-feels everything deeper than her friends
-nieve/easily manipulated (despite constantly fighting the idea that she is nieve. Like she gets so upset when it’s insinuated that she’s going to learn soon enough)
-infantilized by almost everyone (mostly her friends. Like they came up with a whole committee to “protect” her from things they don’t want her to know about because they’ve decided she can’t handle knowing about them.)
-stims in a way that’s beyond “everybody stims” (this is far too frequent, specific, and eccentric to be casual average person stimulatory behavior. She wiggles her arms and hands, makes noises, even some of her reactions to upsetting or bad things have her stimming. When that girl doesn’t want to be her friend she does a whole sequence of putting her self in reverse -whole body and voice going “backwards” to start over- and then when she’s rejected again, she makes noises of freaking out and Maya physically wraps her arms around her and pulls them to the ground and Riley has a whole moment of folding in on herself. She also stims visually by painting crude purple cats and nothing else. Plus a whole bunch of other examples.)
-meltdowns/shutdowns (when her friends think she’s too much -and Lucas tells her as much- and leave her in the hole, she slides to the ground and asks Maya -the only one who stayed- if she still wants to know her. Riley has a meltdown when she’s being bullied; when that particular episode starts she snaps at Maya because she doesn’t know how to handle it and it’s too much and she’s overwhelmed and hurt and vulnerable. Then it keeps happening as the episode progresses and things get worse until finally she cracks, and even then it happens again.)
-she’s awkward (it’s practically her main personality trait for most or all of the show if not at least the whole first season. She struggles to use her limbs as well as everyone else -dyspraxia check. A common comorbidity with autism- which results in many falls, accidents, and struggling to be on the cheer team because she just can’t quite master the cheers and tumbling. She’s also very awkward here and that episode actually depicts her awkwardness perfectly because awkwardness isn’t always just speech and it isn’t always paired with shy/anxious/quiet people. She’s awkward with Lucas, she’s awkward with potential friends. In fact the main times she feels most conventionally not awkward or “normal” -if normal’s even a thing- is when she’s in scenes with Smackle as the character she’s bouncing dialogue and movement off of, who’s supposed to be the canon autism representation.)
Do You Know This (Non-Canon) Autistic Character?
Dracule Mihawk from One Piece (manga)
Yes, I know him and see him as autistic.
Yes, I know him, but I don't see him as autistic.
I've heard of him.
I don't know him, but he seems autistic.
I don't know him, but he doesn't seem autistic.
I don't know him.
Propaganda below the cut!
Twilight Sparkle is lwk autistic coded. Does anyone else see it?

It’s almost universally agreed that SpongeBob is autistic coded, or at least neurodivergent. Yet no one really seems to notice that Squidward’s kinda like that too (especially in the early/pre-movie seasons).
It's really fucking annoying when people love autistic coded characters like Wednesday Addams but they hate Robin Buckley for being "corny". It's even worse because both Stranger Things and Wednesday focuses on outcasts. It's also weird how people babygirl-ified Eddie Munson as another weird character (don't get me wrong, I love him too as a weird kid character) and then they say, "I miss s3 Robin" like what are we doing?? Robin has only gotten better. They only like Wednesday because she's more palatable and not "annoying". FUCK, I hate ableist fans of popular media. Robin is just as cool as Wednesday, they're both girlkissers and deserve to be appreciated
As an autistic writer, I feel like every OC I create is always at least somewhat autistic coded. Whether they're supposed to be autistic or not, I can't help but think they all end up with at least one subtle autistic trait.
