Do you like Blaufrankisch? This 2013 Austrian gem was beautiful red fruit, bright and fresh, great body. When this vintage was released from Muhr van der Nierpoort the winery was a partnership between former husband-wife and wine partners. The marriage and the wine partnership dissolved and now the winery is Weingut Dorli Muhr. Probably the best time to visit the hilly wine region in the south of Austria

After a nice crisp rose with appetizers, the meat showed up and we thought a red wine would be a good call. I’ve had so much good luck picking Blaufrankisch from the Slanted Door’s menu we decided to do it again. In truth, it was our friend Inna’s idea and it worked out great! This 2017 Blaufrankisch from Paul Achs was simply perfect. What a fantastic varietal - you can’t confuse it with any other wine. Delicate in one sense, but also bold - fruit presence with lots of acidity. Mellow tannins.
