there is an actual, physical barrier around the workshop. you can go to it, you can touch it, its like a big ol dome over the entire place. its actually so big that most normal people would never even see it- zarroë is a colossal after all. Unfortunately TM. the workshop monsters are not normal so off they go to the barrier

flasque can stand on its back legs like a pangolin

the liquid inside flasque is at least somewhat basic (not acidic). i say this because if it were acidic it would be destroying the glass instead of strengthening it so 🤷‍♀️

(derived from @pumpkincryptid's whaill echolocation hc) should whaill be in an argument, they turn all their faces towards the. uh. the target of their wrath. all that sound flying in one direction creates a metaphorical tunnel vision effect an they are unaware of anything/anyone around them while its happening. general consensus on that situation is that yes it is very scary. but also what is anyone gonna do about it.

the first few days after whaill was yoinked, no one sang the workshop song. the stable ethereals got a bit worried at that and wondered if it maybe had anything to do with the GIANT FUCKING HAND that had just punched a hole into the fabric of reality. some of the floaty ones were able to pass through the breach but havent discovered anything (Yet)

less angsty whaill one. if they for whatever reason stay up late they will sometimes sing lullabies from the first floor of the castle and everyone up in their rooms will hear

since teeter cant speak too good right away, they had to learn basic sounds first. this resulted in them kinda just babbling for a while, and vhenshun nicknamed them blabbit affectionately as a joke. no one else knows what a blabbit is but they let him have it because he thinks hes funny.

when tauter asked about ^this, vhenshun just told them that they should also have a nickname, hence why theyre now called a potato

on the subject of vhenshun. they do not have a mad scientist laugh, they only have a dad laugh. probably a dad sneeze as well

nitebear is more afraid of people and being an annoyance than typically scary things like the dark and the ocean and whatnot. (its thought that this is a tendency amongst primarily shadow element monsters)

^they also read a lot! it took some time for them and flasque to become friends because reasons (see the bio) and vhenshun gave them a book on machinery (and probably portals) which they ended up liking a lot. they still read in their spare time

nitebears ^reading habit got them very into cooking. you would think that this might bring them closer to others but alas they hate sharing the kitchen because it gives them big anxiety. they would like to make dinner for the others but also that requires calling attention to themself and thats also big anxiety

auglur can rearrange their wings and hands as they please. sometimes they lay down and it just looks like a giant feathery starfish invaded the workshop

piplash does not understand physical boundaries too good. theyre a big hugger and they just Cannot Comprehend that someone might not like being touched

it is common practice to pick up and move smaller/lighter workshopeans if theyre in the way. depending on whos doing the lifting, this can look like anything from a gentle cradling to putting someone on ones own shoulders to just yoinking the cranium of the offender with one hand like a mii. usually this happens with teeter tauter or gaddzooks, but if things get extra hectic its possible to witness others getting helicoptered away

teeter does the 'im not tired' thing Every Single Night. they have to be moving at all times and physically cannot sleep if they arent being rocked to sleep. tauter or rhysmuth (as cool older sibling) had to do this for several weeks following their initial synthesis until eventually vhenshun finished the project they had been working on since they first heard of this problem got tired of teeter jumping on the bed every damn night and built them a hammock (their rooms are so far apart theres literally no way he heard that). it swings by itself very quietly so that both twins can actually sleep

lifting the twins is very different. for teeter you have to have them under your arm like a laundry basket so that they can move their legs (important for their sanity and your safety. spiky legs) for tauter you have to hold them like you would a human child because they are anxiety and prefer to be more stable (important for their sanity and their safety)

in the same vein its different to put them down! you can drop teeter and theyll sort themself out and land on their feet. you gotta be more gentle with tauter tho because if you drop them, youve just thrown them on the ground and they Will Cry

while teeter can run real fast, tauter is very good at climbing! this is useful for if the little yellow nuisance has jumped up somewhere they shouldnt be. unfortunately theyve learned this by now and they know they outspeed their sibling, so they stay on the ground

yooreek bites their tongue a lot both on accident and on purpose, but they dont actually feel it too much. tough skin

gaddzooks, blarret, and teeter actually get along pretty well! they run around the workshop together and gaddzooks picks up everything the others knock over. not because anyone told them to, just because they like to be nice

bemeebeth and piplash both have trouble with getting through doors. pips antennae thingys get caught on both sides and they get bounced backwards (yes it makes a guitar sound). meebeth just gets a doorframe in their eyes and then becomes inconsolable for a little while because OW.

bemeebeth sometimes has to slouch indoors otherwise they bonk their head and poke holes in the ceiling

x’rt doesnt really lean towards the side of wanting to escape or wanting to stay in the workshop. HOWEVER they can be bribed with sweets and food to mess with zarroës thought process if vhenshun needs a distraction. this is because theyre a hecking troll and they think its hilarious that such a small being can be such a massive annoyance to a colossal

pentumbra can climb walls very well like the spooder they are. unfortunately theyre afraid of heights and a lot of other things

oogiddy has, on several occasions, been the sole reason that the castle didnt BURN DOWN. since they can detect weird shit in the air they realized that the stove/oven was left on and turned it off themself. the first time it happened they tried to tell the others but the construction of their mouth doesnt allow for normal sounds so they werent understood. they eventually learned how to talk good but they didnt bring it up again

this one is more general BUT it originated with rhysmuth so im saying it here. there is a secondary dialect(?) of the monster language called ‘Percussive’ which is kind of similar to Morse code. sometimes monsters Do Not Have Hands with which to sign (or are just not currently in a situation in which they can speak or sign) and thus Percussive was born! its not as widespread but its pretty easy to find someone who knows at least the basics

SPECIAL THING FOR @pumpkincryptid THAT IM MAKING UP RIGHT NOW BEFORE I POST BECAUSE YOU WANTED MORE OF THE WORKSHOP HEIST TRIO. vhenshun originally roped nitebear and flasque into his schemes because one was weak willed+a source of power and the other was smart about the sciences he himself wasnt too versed in (you can guess which was which). HOWEVER he eventually warms up to them and considers them his wards, same as piplash.
