oh wow there are sounds i really do not vibe with right now
I can’t handle it!
I have audio sensor issues and and the current trend on TikTok is ppl using Mariah Carey screaming “it’s time” before the song starts.
Just having it suddenly playing out of no where starts a headache.
It’s a super high pitch screech to me and it hurts my brain.
It may not hurt my ears in the normal sense, like a firework.
But the sudden high pitch is enough and hearing it over and over is making it worse.
I am so sensitive to sounds that I can hear when a tool battery is recharging, when a certain noise is used in a commercial or video that others may not hear, it’s so high it cause a headache to start and continue with only occasional relief after the noise stops.
Depending on the light bulbs and appliances in a place I can hear them as well.
Electricity is super high pitched and at times a similar sound is used to simulate disorientation in movies, shows and games after some explodes or they’re hit in the head or hearing issues.
In those moments it’s very uncomfortable for me while watching.
There’s currently a car commercial where a father and daughter walk away from an accident to a waiting mother and talk about only owning that car brand and depending on how high the volume is and the station it’s on, the pitch that starts the commercial hurts.
It makes playing games at times hard too being sensitive to sounds cause there maybe a certain sound used for a weapon and I try to avoid using it cause of the noise while playing.
Upside, being sensitive to sound, I can hear my pets when my parents accidentally close them in a room.
………
Ok, I deleted the first draft of this because it’s late, my Trazadone’s kicking in, and I felt stupid.
But then I discovered these are a thing….
An earplug to reduce stress and calm your everyday sound. Soothe sound sensitivities and noise related stress. Perfect for sensitive hearing
(For peeps that care, testing that shows the inserts do what they say they do: decrease the magnitude of higher frequency sounds, which are painful to me, while not affecting lower frequency sounds)
Unfortunately, it’s a UK company and I’m in the USA, so while I’m basically vibrating with excitement I’ve gotta wait two whole weeks to see if these will help me.
So, to burn Special Interest Activation Energy, I’m inflicting this on you:
Anyone got stuff you’d like me to narrate???
It suddenly (like, while I was trying to get to sleep) occurred to me that “kids are freakishly interested in my storytelling” may be possibly utilized in voice over work, and that sounded like fun.
Figured I’d see if others agree.
*Me wearing my noise cancelling headphones out in public*
Someone: what were/are u listening to???
Me: …nothing

One problem with my brain is that I can only hear one noise at a time. So even if there are like four different noises my brain can only hear one at a time, but it's still getting all of them at once. Which makes it really overwhelming.
Video games? Have to pause if someone starts talking- even if not to me.
T.V? Have to pause every five minutes because i THINK I heard a noise.
Ironically, the only thing that can focus my brain is by adding an additional SPECIFIC noise. If I'm listening to music in a pair of headphones than that helps me focus.
Which is strange.
TLDR: why is it that I can't hear more than one noise at a time, unless I add music through headphones to help me focus?
Finally decided to buy some Loop earplugs... hoping they'll help with the audio over stimulation and help me focus more. Sound sensitivity is so bad in the mornings.
Does anyone have tips for handling vaccuming with noise-related sensory problems? I need to do it but I keep avoiding it, so I’m assuming it might be sensory?
