The beast that trots into the lab is more akin to a bear than anything else and it walks slowly, cautious but polite in its approach. The dog sits and holds out the envelope held in its teeth.
The note enclosed is straight to the point but friendly: “This is Betty, a fully trained assistance animal. She does however need a bit of a test run in a real environment and we were hoping you’d be willing to give her a shot? You can simply tell her to head home if you’re not keen on helping with the experiment.”
He's never been a fan of dogs. Sure, Jayce has a tendency to act like one, but that's a far cry from the real thing. Still, he's nothing if not open minded.

hey, so i got an idea and i’m thinking mage viktor, like the one jayce sees in the apocalypse alt timeline. but in this scenario we’re a jayce figure and viktor’s kinda, somber or sad, i guess, about having to send us back. because it’s like, his version of us is a statue thing, you know? he’s all by himself in the alt timeline, it’s tragic really.

I’ve seen so many fics/prompts like this and it’s so so so sad!!!! I seriously wouldn’t have blamed mage!Viktor if he wanted to keep Jayce with him in the alternate timeline. I probably would have in his place.

Jinx says this with confidence, but considering she's been absent for a few days and now Viktor is holding bandages against the gash in her shoulder, he's not exactly convinced by her flippant tone.

He pulled tight on the end of the bandage between his fingers, fumbling for a pin with his other hand. Jinx always managed to get herself into situations, whether they were wise or not. Her judgement was always on whether something looked fun, not on how dangerous it might be.
He sighed, pushed his glasses up his nose and fixed the bandage with the safety pin, his eyes scrutinising his handiwork. He nodded. That'd hold for now.
