Genuine question, guys. In my family, we don’t tell doctors anything. We go to get our medicine and for a yearly checkup but that’s it. I was taught not to tell the doctor anything family history, family names, or my symptoms unless it was something like an ear infection ( which I had chronically ) or similar ( I was an asthmatic sickly child ). I was told that anything you say will go into your “permanent record” which will “follow you for life,” and anything you tell the medical system is something they will use against you in the future. With several family members with a lot of experience dealing with the medical system ( as caregivers of sick elderly family members ), they claimed they “knew how it worked.”
