ATSA Chapter 1: The Start of the End
As Isla was getting up off the hospital bed and walking over to change, she turned her mirror on, got her clothes out, and set some music. She didn’t know what to put at first for the song, so she just let it decide for itself; it chose its favorite song: “The Start of a New World.” Ironic seeing as how there isn’t such thing as a ‘New World.’ “Hey, RIA?” Isla says, trying to get in contact with her robotic friend. “Yes, Miss Isla?” The robot responds. “What was your full name again?” She asked. Before the robot could respond, she added; “I know you tell me a lot, but it’s hard to remember. . . Sorry!” “No need to worry, miss.”
The robot is hesitant, as if it had forgotten its name. “My name is RIAB: Responsive Information Analyzing Bot.” Isla got finished getting ready and went to grab her stuff to head out the door. Suddenly, RIAB yelled through its speaker; “No, Miss Isla! You can’t go outside!” Isla thought this was ridiculous. I mean, RIA hasn’t ever acted like this before! “RIA, what’s wrong?” Isla said, looking out the window to see nothing but darkness “it must be broken” Isla thought, talking about the window. “My systems are overflowing with warnings saying not to go outside!” “Why?” Isla was worried far beyond reasoning at this point. “The government is saying that there has been a v--” Isla waited a moment for the robot to respond, but it never did; all she could hear was the sound of electricity… “RIA?” “RIA, answer me! A what?” Isla looked behind her to see that her robotic companion has fallen to the ground and isn’t working.
“Great.” Isla was having an amazing day before this had happened. Isla had just woken up from a major coma just a month ago, but she had healed faster than the hospital had even thought possible. Isla had gotten discharged today, and she was ecstatic; until this happened. Maybe it was just a stupid hacker in the system. “What did RIA mean about the government said something…” Isla was thinking out loud again, it was quite a common thing with her. Isla locked her door, closed her blinds, turned out the lights, and went back to sleep.
