Atla live action
You’d think people would learn their lesson and respect the animation medium and a respected art form and storytelling medium even in its own community of supposed “animation lovers” but I guess not.
This is getting redundant and 100%. Why I don’t think REAL fans of any animated film that has came out in the past have are REAL fans.
Remakes are only nectary when you can make something better. You can’t make something already GOOD, better.
Me, watching episode 1 and 2 of the new ATLA remake: okay it's different, some changes aren't that great but hey, it's alright
Me, watching episode 3 and 4: I have never been so disappointed
You know what, the ATLA live action has a fair few flaws with some characterisation, pacing etc. , but I enjoyed it, it was fun to watch and I liked it a lot, I think the casting was really good and I'm excited for a season 2 and 3.
However I think that what would have fixed its pacing is if they had 10 episodes instead of only 8. They tried to rush through too much plot at once and squashed it together a little too much. The original season 1 is 20 episodes, meaning 10 would be like combining 2 episodes for each one, which I think would work much better than squishing 3 or 4 into one.
The devil is in the detail after all, and they lost a lot of detail trying to contain everything into only 8 episodes. I hope they have more episodes for season 2 and 3 because I think it would help a lot with the pacing and give more opportunity for character exploration and growth.
Also let Zuko be obsessed with his Honour, let Aang be more playful and actually learn waterbending and let Katara be angry and bold.
What do you mean people hated the new Live action ATLA????
It was so good and true to the source material, so why would you not like it?
The casting was 100/10, the score was beautiful and moving, the set designs were gorgeous, the effects were so much better than I was expecting, and yes, it wasn't 1:1 with the original but it literally couldn't be with 8 episodes and it was very well done for the time alloted.
I would say the only disappointing bits were Bumi was kind of bitter and we didn't get Sokka in full Kyoshi warrior makeup and armor.
What was there to hate?

Why do they keep doing this?? Does anyone actually want them to make live action versions? Is anyone asking for this?? BC I KNOW IM NOT
why??? did they change aangs backstory???
the fact that instead of running away he just was out for a midnight stroll and got caught in a storm. i liked that flaw he had in the original show! where he overheard something and then ran away on impulse because he was a scared little kid!
and then he has to live with that guilt. that when the world needed him most, he did abandon his duty. like when people are angry with him for abandoning the world, he has to struggle with the fact that they're half right. yeah he didn't intend to get caught in the storm, but he did run away on a whim instead of facing his responsibilities.
why do they keep sanding down character flaws oTL
Things I like from the Netflix ATLA adaptation/remake
NOT SPOILER FREE OBVIOUSLY
-Anger and Fear in Gordon/Aangs eyes during his conversation with Gyatso about being the Avatar
-That we get to see this part of history at all
-THE MUSIC IS THE EXACT SAME HELLO?!?!
- Okay misogynist or not Sokka is still a dickhead. I'll take it
- Zuko's tiny ship is amazing. Can't wait for the full sized warships
- Zuko has Avatar relics?!
- Suki roast his ass!
- Suki jumpscares
- Suki showing off the fan's uses
- Spirit World was trippy
- Kyoshi jumpscare
- "Aang. It's about time." Ahhhhhhh yes "Do A Murder" Kyoshi shining through already
- Sokka's face screaming "Fuck you" when he saved Suki from Zhao
- Kyoshi taking over like Roku did during the Winter Solstice at the Fire Sage Temple?!??!
- Kick their asses Kyoshi!
- Awwwwwww kiss him Suki 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
- Azula's actress has Azula down
- The Ostrich-Horses are so ugly they're cute
- Mai is perfect
- Gay Oma and Shu????? (I checked they weren't originally gay this is cute and it was super subtle too 🫶🏼)
- June flirting with Iroh 🫶🏼
- Zuko's actor knowing the character development/redemption arc is coming and playing into that the whole time
- Mai still being perfect
- Yue got to break off her arranged marriage!!!!
- Hahn not being a piece of shit?!
- Ahhhhhhh at least Pakku is still a misogynistic pig (joking but come on that was Sokka's whole character development)
- Aang and Katara crying over Hahn's dead body 🥹🥹
- Mako (original Iroh) would be proud of this Iroh and I know that's a bold claim but I'm right. That spill about masking? 10/10. Made me sob. He's the only reason I'd tolerate a second season
Overall this show is a solid 7/10. Is it anything compared to the original? No. Is it better than M. Knight Shamalan's live action adaptation? Yes. By at least 50 miles (80 Km). Do I want a second season? Not really honestly.
