Missed opportunity to have Zuko ditch fire lord duties the moment he "temporarily" put Iroh in charge. And then Zuko runs the teashop while Iroh has to clean up his own messes.

It's always "Azula is so evil, she smiled when her father burned Zuko", okay but have you ever noticed that she was wearing makeup in that scene?
"The fuck? How is this relevant? Cornplating ahh" SHE'S ELEVEN. Mind you the Agni Kai wasn't some sort of special event like a coronation or a wedding that you doll yourself up for, this was her everyday look.
Azula was straight up one of them Sephora kids before they were a thing and we need to talk about that
Is Toph a better teacher than Katara?
So I was thinking about Toph and Aang this week and how amazing their fight chemistry is. Katara and Aang had their moments in season 1 when they were both novices...but after Katara became a master, it wasn't the same.
Anyway, I think Toph is a better teacher than Katara. For two reasons.
First, Toph pushed Aang to reach his potential in ways Katara never did. Earth was Aang's weakest element...yet earth arguably became his second best/used element in battle. In Bitter Work, Katara sounded like a preschool teacher talking about positive reinforcement in that maternal voice of hers whenever she talks about Aang. Yeah, I think Toph was borderline crazy in that episode and she was obviously getting used to teaching. But I believe if Toph used Katara's approach he would have not have become a great earthbender. Given how well Aang is at earthbending by the time the series ended, I think Aang should have been performing way better at waterbending given his natural proficiency, if Katara was a good teacher.
We don't see Katara passing on her specialised skills the way Toph does. Toph taught Aang her seismic sense. Yet, we don't see Katara passing on her tricks to Aang. You could say it's because of the short time before the finale...
But even with their kids, you see it! Toph's daughters can both metalbend. We see Lin and Suyin use metalbending in amazing ways - like Suyin metalbending the poison from Korra.
We don't see this with Kya. I admit that I haven't really seen much of Kya fighting outside of her battles with the Red Lotus. And she was an awesome fighter. But we don't really see any of Katara's ingenuity and skills in her. Katara learnt how to summon water from the air and plants. Katara learnt how to use her own body liquids to her advantage. It's a shame Katara was so ashamed of her bloodbending - imagine how badass Kya would have been against Zaheer if she had bloodbending in her arsenal ๐ซฐ๐พ๐ซฐ๐พ๐ซฐ๐พ. Zaheer and Ming Hua wouldn't have stood a chance. I think Katara's daughter should be able to do so many cool things with water. I also think the writers did Kya dirty by making her lose so badly all the time.
Maybe I am grasping at straws. I don't mean to undermine Katara...but it really seems like Toph is a superior teacher. As evidenced by Aang and their kids.
Well see, if you two just got together after hello, you Zuko almost gave your life up for her, you both wouldnโt be in this mess. Katara being your girl would probably help you out on a lot of stuff your gloomy canon gf/wife has not lifted a finger at. Just kiss already and get it over with geeez!!! ๐๐ซ ๐โ๐ฝ
Cheif Katara is so important to me yโall donโt understand-

Thinking about how Team Azula all have problems stemming mainly from...
Inadequate attention. Hear me out,
Azula didn't get the loving attention from Ursa that her brother got. But got the cold, distant attention of her father... and she had to work to keep it. She feels insecure when others receive the attention she craves.
Zuko got attention from Ursa until he didn't, then he had Iroh, but yearned for that of his father's. Despite the fact Ozai's was always cruel. Everything Zuko did was in hopes of getting his father's approvals.
Ty Lee felt lost in the crowd of identical sisters and grew to love being the center of attention. To the point where "circus freak" is a compliment to her because at least it's an identity that felt personal to her. At least she stood out for once.
And Mai was expected to sit still and look pretty as to not upset her very emotionally distant parents or get in the way of their reputation. She also got a baby brother nearly a decade and a half after her; who seems to he her parents's current pride and joy. And as a result, she ends up seeking the emotional validation from Zuko and getting upset when that sense of respite is strained or threatened.
Thinking about how Azula didn't break down into tears when she lost to Katara. But rather when she saw her brother receiving a form of love again, while she's trapped on the sidelines, physically bound to witness.
โThe one question I have about the Last Agni Kai.
