Lyra wasnât entirely who she was any more. So much had changed during the past year, and she felt like she had lost a fair bit of her muchness along the way. She had finally plucked up the courage to meet with her biological father for breakfast that morning, and it hadnât gone well. To make matters worse, her mother had found out about her plans and currently wasnât talking to her.Â
She had never in her life felt so desperate for someone to talk to, so she made her way over to the area where people were getting ready to partake in the karaoke and feeling foolish, she added her name to the ever-growing list of names, hoping that they would be going in list order so that she would at least have time to prepare. This had so much potential to go wrong, but not much could be worse than being rejected by a parent. âI can do this...â She mumbled uncertainly to herself.
