My interpretation of the Fellowship at the Council of Elrond

Aragorn: like the "sea-kings of old" aka Elros

Gandalf: that postcard with the wizard and the deer that Tolkien said was his inspiration

Legolas: bronze hair as a result of hair genetics in his family

Boromir: also Elros, just slightly more Mannish w/ haircut & clothes

Sam: country boy gardener

Frodo: fairer hair than the rest of the hobbits. Bilbo's green waistcoat with real gold buttons

Pippin: full Took and therefore more Elvish-looking than the other hobbits

Merry: rich but more hobbitish than Pippin

Gimli: Longbeard. Dwalin has a blue beard + the Longbeards settled the Blue Mountains, so here is Longbeard Gimli.
