I don't recognize those characters. Are they from a problematic anime?

They’re from an anime called Junjo Romantica, it’s a yaoi that romanticizes abuse, sexual assault, an extremely toxic age gap (I believe their gap is of 10 years, if I’m remembering all the details correctly), and is generally very poorly written and drawn.

Basically, there is an artist who draws extremely fetishized porn of trans!Captain America.

I first found out about them through kiwifarms, and, well, I’m afraid I may have actually been the person to spark the backlash they received here on tumblr shortly after (hope it hasn’t given the farms any grief). I made a brief lil vague post about them, then had a bit of a discussion on the blog re: others’ feelings on their art. It died out fairly quickly.

Last night/early this morning, I went to check on their thread, just to stay abreast (he he) of the situation, and, no surprises, they don’t think they did anything wrong.

So I took, like, a single minute out of my night to make a shitty parody. I had my chuckle, then I moved on and drew my hotass magician OC. Damn, he’s fine.

Anyway, the artist being mocked is famous (by now) for exaggerating trans!Captain America’s stereotypically feminine features (hips, breasts, waist, lips) to a laughable degree, then getting mad at trans men who are made uncomfortable by it. They accentuate all of the features that cause us the most grief, draw extremely explicit porn involving trans!Steve’s lady bits, and are, well, pretty much just really turned on by pre-transition trans men.

But they won’t admit that it’s a fetish, they insist that their art is progressive and inoffensive.

Most folks agree, if they’d just admit they had a fetish, this whole mess wouldn’t have happened. It’s their holier-than-thou, “I’m such a good person,” attitude about their fetishistic art that pisses everyone off.
