I'm gonna start writing fics (for different fandoms cause I'm a sucker for all of the guys) and do you have a advice for me as a new writer ? how do you keep having ideas for fics?? i love your ideas so much (hello, hello is my favorite hihi), they are so amazing to read *chief kiss*. thank you for sharing your talent.
First of all, Iām so honored that you asked me of all people for advice, that really blows my mindā¤ļø and second of all, I WANT TO READ ALL THE THINGS!!! Gimme!
As for tips.... Well, I guess I have a few!
Write what you want to see, not just what you think others want to see. If you have a want for something that hasnāt been written yet, write it yourself and more is sure to follow!
This is the world of fanfiction, so ANYTHING goes. I donāt care if you have Sam Winchester being smacked by Sherlock Holmes because Christian Grey likes his underwear - fanfiction is FICTION written by FANS.
Keep in mind that you put out work FOR FREE. You do not have to post your work to this platform or even write at all, but you do because you like creating. This brings me to my next point.
As the writer, you are not required to post on a perfect schedule. You can have a mental schedule like I do and still miss days. It is not a crime at all.
You donāt have to accept every request you get. If it makes you uncomfortable of gives you bad vibes, privately message the user or answer the anonymous ask privately - most of the time the person requesting something will understand.
Take breaks. Stop and relax in between large stretches of writing (days to weeks straight) or between single works. Iāve done both, and it works for me. It just depends on what kind of time you need.
Quantity does not equal quality. Keep in mind that the word count put out does not make the writer. Iāve read pieces that were less than 500 words, but I still felt every emotion put in.
Notes and comments also donāt equal quality. As Iāve mentioned before, Iāve seen no notes/replies/reblogs on a work I found to be beyond beautiful and awe inspiring. Just because there isnāt any feedback right away doesnāt mean your piece is worthless - it just means the right reader hasnāt discovered it yet.
Followers do not make a writer. When I started off writing in late October, I had 23 followers and maybe two people who replied to my work, but I still wrote because I enjoyed it.
Give feedback to get feedback. All writers want feedback, whether itās gushing about how much you liked it or even a bit constructive. It makes us happy, as youāll soon discover!
Donāt be afraid to say hello! Iāve made friends with several of of my favorite writers and we talk quite a bit just because I said hello, and vice versa my readers with me!
Mutual likes, replies, and reblogs without a verbal relationship are definitely a thing. Someone can repeatedly like your works and you do the same even without the two of you ever talking, and youāll probably feel happy, smile, and mentally go āOh, hello friend!ā, because you like each otherās works back and forth.
As for new ideas, theyāll come to you. Try playing your music on shuffle and listening closely to the lyrics, or reading your favorite book/book series. Listening to a song about falling in love over coffee and a muffin? Coffee Shop AU! Reading a story about a prince in disguise? Thereās Royalty AU that you can spin around however you want it!
You can also chat with other writers and get ideas from them that youāre willing to write but they donāt want to - just ask if you can use the idea while talking to them!
Iām really glad you enjoy my writing and ideas, and I canāt wait for you to get to see the rest of Hello, Hello! I hope these helped!
