Cherry Valance

My opinion of her:

I love Cherry. She gets way too much hate and I think it’s completely unwarranted. I think people hate her because she’s a complex character and she isn’t a male. I like the fact she’s morally grey. I like that she can stick up for herself, but also has complex internal thoughts. Like she can tell Dally off one second, but she’s scared of falling in love with him the next. I like that. I think she’s underrated and people should stop being shallow and sexist about her.

My favorite canon thing about her:

Her moral greatness. She’s torn between her reputation and her own morals. She doesn’t want to talk to Pony because it’ll tarnish her reputation, but she helps him pay for lawyers at the end of the book. She likes sunsets and art and movies, but she also loves typical Soc things. Shes complex. Shes morally grey. I love that.

My least favorite canon thing about her:

That she fell for Dallas Winston of all people, she’s way out of his league(/silly)

…that she falls in love with Sodapop—I’m SORRY but I just cannot see the vision. This is more so me being a hater than anything but it’s Not For Me. I’m a CherryCola hater i’m sorry (gonna regret saying that lol)

Three headcanons I have about her:

Her favorite season is autumn. She likes autumn clothes and the colors and stuff and it looks real good on her too cause of her hair.

She has an orange tabby cat named Squish that she’s had since she was four years old. Her dad bought him for her because he used to leave a lot and not come back and he supposed it would be “compensation”.

I really like the idea of her going into something with law post book—I think after high school, she realizes that while reputation is importantly to her, it’s not the only thing life has to offer, and she does want to help those that can’t quite help themselves. Much like her being a spy for the greasers while Pony was at the church.

Ponyboy Curtis

My opinion of him:

I like ponyboy a lot—He was my favorite back in middle school and he’s still one of my favorites now. he’s very complex and i like that a lot—There’s a lot you can do with him fanfic wise and i think people should look below the surface with him. I feel like people unfairly call him a brat or ungrateful without realizing he’s a grieving child. he’s complex, and I like that. He’s not unreliable, but he is biased. He feels like a very rounded out character and he feels like a fourteen year old boy. He just feels very realistic and he’s still one of my favorites to date.

My favorite canon thing about him:

I like the fact that he’s somewhat immature. It makes him feel realistic. I also like the difference between how he views himself as artsy and different and stuff but Bryon’s perception of him is that he’s haughty and stuck up and whatnot. I think it’s a good way to round him out tbh and I like it.

My least favorite canon thing about him:

That he likes Pepsi/silly (nah i can’t talk soda’s gross imo lol—i really can’t think of a single negative thing to say about half these characters lol)

My favorite headcanon about him:

Ponyboy was born prematurely and needed a cane to help him walk up until he was maybe nine or ten years old. He was homeschooled for a few years and was skipped ahead from second grade to fourth grade, and he started public school in fourth grade. He homeschooled because he was very sickly and was usually in a bad out of the hospital.

My least favorite headcanon about him:

That he cuts off Darry and Soda or that he actually hates Darry. I’ve seen this scarcely but I still hate it. Pony doesn’t hate his brothers, he’s grieving the loss of Darry. He doesn’t hate him; he’s grieving. There’s a difference.

Three headcanons I have about him:

he becomes an art/music therapist in the future. I feel like the English teacher Ponyboy headcanon is kinda redundant and overrated—I think he’d want to help people who were once in his position, but he’d also like ti keep his more artistic side with him.

His favorite art medium is watercolors. He can make the most stunning paintings ever with them and has a few hung up in his room

Sorta canon but he has weirdly good aim. He loves throwing and catching food into his mouth. Darry and Soda sometimes play along and let him throw things in their mouths too, lol

So, I only started writing again in like October I think, so I'll bring a lot of ideas into the new year.

My main WIP, I'm actively working on right now is

'Rook on the Seventh Rank'

It's Dragon Age Veilguard, f!Rook/Neve. A serious slowburn with a happy end and I already have plans for a sequel. It's a long fic going along with the events of Veilguard, basically adding missing scenes while staying mostly true to canon.

The hook is that Neve can't figure out Rook and that is what's drawing her in.

Revenge

Is an AU of my main Rook in @ohimjustabard 's universe with her Rook of Tel. They meet during Tel's short stint with the Lords and become friends. Asha (my Rook) decides to take revenge on the people that did Tel wrong.

This is about my Grey Warden f!Rook Summer Thorne. She's Charter's daughter and this is a group verse with @ohimjustabard @natsora @crackedskel - kind of. There's a lot going on.

Despite the closed state of her eyes, Sandra Lynn felt consciousness return to her. Her body felt heavier than it had ever been before, but she strained to hear the voices outside.

“Ms Applebees, please calm-” Doctor.

“It’s not my fault you clearly used the wrong sutures for her wound, I mean come on!” Kristen. That was… Kristen’s voice. “Sandra Lynn isn’t going to stay still enough for the stupid ones you put in. Honestly, do you even know anything about medicine? Know your patient.”

“Ms Faeth is-”

“Captain.” Sandra Lynn muttered weakly. Her stomach throbbed lightly when she spoke. “It’s Captain Faeth. Not Ms.”

There was the sound of feet stumbling as Kristen shoved the doctor out of the way and ran to Sandra Lynn’s bedside. “You’re awake!”

Sandra Lynn managed to half open one of her eyes, seeing Kristen’s freckled face taking up most of her vision. She was wearing lilac travelling robes over that horrible yellow jumpsuit.

“The gargoyles.” She muttered, memories swarming inside her head. She tried to open her eyes further and sit up. “They’re coming. For-for Elmville.”

Kristen roughly pushed her down by the shoulders. “Your team defeated them.” She held her there. “You lost a lot of blood and have been unconscious for three days. You…” Her voice cracked a little. “You nearly died.” She blinked a couple times. Sandra Lynn couldn’t see clearly enough to see the tears in Kristen’s eyes, but by the sound of her voice, she could tell.

“Did everybody else get out safe?” Her worry lessened only slightly.

“I see where Fig gets it.” Kristen muttered at a volume Sandra Lynn assumed she thought she couldn’t hear. “Yes. Everybody else is fine. A few scrapes, nothing this bad.”

“And Baxter?”

“He's a little shaken. I'm not a vet, but it's not that hard to figure out.” She looked sad, “He misses you for sure, and you'll probably need a new saddle. The other one's a little… red.”

“He's eating okay?”

“Fig is taking care of him. And she has Gilear on speed dial just in case.”

Sandra Lynn smiled. She had quite enjoyed teaching Gilear the intricacies of griffin care.

Sandra Lynn stared at the roof, a maddening sort of boredom overcoming her. Sure, she had Jawbone, and sure, there was a crystalvision in the corner of her room, but nothing she wanted to watch was ever on. She hated being in the hospital. The smells, the sounds, the white walls.

She never seemed to sleep, or even trance in the hospital. So she laid awake while Jawbone slept, curled up on the chair next to her. The rise and fall of his breaths was all she could hear. She wanted to get up and run, but she knew that would only land her a longer stint in the crushing white room.

Her ears twitched at the sound of footsteps coming down the hall, but she didn’t let herself get too excited. They would just walk by, like they always did.

Or, would they?

The door to her room cracked open and a young woman wearing a long white coat poked her head in.

Sandra Lynn quickly closed her eyes and pretended she was asleep.

“Pssst! Mom!” The doctor whispered.

Sandra Lynn opened her eyes, “What did you say?”

The doctor closed the door and the strangest thing happened.

Her form shifted and changed, melting away to reveal… Sandra Lynn’s daughter. Figureoth.

“Fig?” She gasped and Fig made a wild shushing gesture.

“Shh! I’m not supposed to be here.”

“You-” Sandra Lynn began, but closed her mouth, deciding it just wasn’t worth it. “I missed you.” She held out her arms.

Fig basically took a running leap into her mother’s arms, only stopping herself when she realised how much pain Sandra Lynn would be in if her wound made contact with anything. Fig embraced her mother in a very careful hug, and squeezed tighter than she ever had before.

When she withdrew, Sandra Lynn realised her face was wet.

“Sweetie?” She reached up and wiped a few of her daughter’s tears away.

“You nearly died.” Fig sobbed, wiping her nose with the back of her hand. “I thought you were dead. A-Adaine had a vision. She saw your team trying to bring you back. We were halfway to Elmville before Jawbone called to say that you were in critical condition and to get to St Owen’s as soon as we could.”

I thought I was dead too.

“Oh, baby.” Sandra Lynn covered her daughter’s face in little kisses, and for once, Fig let her. “Is Adaine okay? That must have been scary for both of you.”

“She’s okay. We were holed up in the waiting room, but your doctor said we should go home, that we couldn’t see you just yet. So she went home, and I came here.” Fig wriggled into bed with Sandra Lynn, resting her head against her neck. It was a lot less comfortable than it had been when Fig was small, but Sandra Lynn wouldn’t dare push her daughter away, not now.

“Tell her I love her for me?”

“I will, yeah.” Fig fiddled with her hands, “Can I stay? I don’t want to go home yet.”

Sandra Lynn stared at her daughter for a moment before kissing the top of her head, “Of course. Just don’t get caught.”

How do you choose which fics to write?

~Do you share your fic ideas, or do you keep them to yourself?

I have trouble keeping my fic ideas to myself when I get super excited, though a lot of my really good writing friends from the old days either aren't writing anymore or they're writing in new fandoms. I still babble a lot at @tlcinbflo @alyssalenko @lauraemoriarty @ashenlavellan @lonesurvivorao3 - I probably owe them all apologies for the verbal barrage they find themselves under sometimes when I'm super excited about an idea. Especially lately about Reyes and Harry, lol.

How do you choose which fics to write?

If I have an idea I'll write it down. If it germinates and takes over my brain, then I'll write it out and see where it goes. I do try to only work on one big fic at a time now. While I was writing Haunted I had the idea of Saints and Liars, and although I planned a lot of it out when was still writing the previous fic, I didn't start writing until I was done.

Mind you, smutty one shots are different. I get inspired by all sorts of dumb things, and if the idea is sexy or funny enough I'll write it.
