Makaya McCraven shares two new singles “Mak Attack” and “Beat Science” from his forthcoming album “Universal Beings E&F Sides” on International Anthem. It’s Makaya follow up to his critically-acclaimed 2018 release “Universal Beings”. New LP presents fourteen new pieces of organic beat music cut from the original sessions, prepared and produced by Makaya as a soundtrack to the “Universal Beings” documentary film, directed by Mark Pallman. 26 minutes long “making off” documentary follows Makaya to Los Angeles, Chicago, London and New York City for a behind the scenes look into the making of the artists breakthrough album, taking the viewer through the story of Makaya's life, his process and the community of musicians that helped bring this project to life. Director Mark Pallman has shared the first chapter of the documentary, titled “Strangers In The City”. “Strangers In The City” feature Makaya McCraven's new song “Mak Attack”, the first single from his forthcoming album “Universal Beings E&F Sides”. Ego Ella May announced her debut album “Honey For Wounds” with two beautiful singles “Give A Little” and “How Long 'Til We're Home”. “Honey For Wounds” take on on jazz, r’n’b, and neo-soul featuring collaborations and production from artists including Alfa Mist, Theo Croker, Ashley Henry, Andrew Ashong, Wu-Lu, Melo Zed, Joe Armon Jones (Ezra Collective), Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist),  Wonky Logic (Steam Down), Oscar Jerome (Kokoroko), and Eddie Hick (Sons of Kemet). “Give A Little’ is about being sick of your own sh*t, and hoping something will give and it will all make sense. It’s about feeling like something’s got to give… Like there needs to be a silver lining because why tf do I keep making silly mistakes in life”, she explained. Mit „Macaya McCraven“ auf der „Univeral Beings“. Bei den „Blue Lab Beats“ auf „Xover“ oder auch auf der „All Africa“ bzw. „East Of The River Nile“ von „Zara Mcfarlane“. Disclaimer: Ich werde Euch über das Osterwochenende ein paar kleine Schätze aus meiner Sammlung vorstellen. Monothematisch. Hier soll es um Künstler des „Neo-Jazz“ gehen. Was ist „Neo Jazz“? Das ist Musik von meistens jungen Künstlern, die oftmals gerade von den Musikhochschulen kommen und sich in verschiedensten Gruppierungen zusammen gefunden haben. Oder aber etablierte Musiker, die sich wiederum in Kollaborationen zusammenfinden, die ungemein Sinn machen. Sehr klar bei der Szene in London, die sich sowohl im Kollektiv, als Band, aber auch als Solokünstler einen Namen gemacht haben. Hier ist die Bandbreite insgesamt relativ groß. Ich mag es, wenn Hybride gebildet werden. Neue Musik aus verschiedenen Richtungen, neu arrangiert und dann dem staunenden Publikum kredenzt. Kombinationen aus Jazz und Hip-Hop, Jazz & Blues, Jazz und Electronica etc. PP. Seit Jazzmatazz und etwas später, Nils–Petter Molvaer, liebe ich solche Querverbindungen. Ohren auf.
