Illustrated Iconic Literature Location In UK That Is A Must-Visit For Book Lovers: Ashdown Forest, East Sussex - A. A. Milne's Inspiration For Winnie The Pooh
One of the most famous fictional woods of all time, Acre Wood home to Winnie the Pooh, can actually be visited in real life.
The woods which are featured in the classic adventures of Winnie the Pooh, was inspired by Ashdown Forest in East Sussex – and the similarities are strikingly clear. A.A. Milne’s son Christopher has even claimed that Ashdown Forest is identical to Pooh’s forest. 100 Acre Wood is in fact based on the real-life Five Hundred Acre Wood which is situated in Ashdown Forest.

🐯🦉 On and off, I have done sketches and drawings of Tigger and Owl based on E.H. Shepard’s interpretations of the characters in his illustrations of A.A. Milne’s original “Winnie the Pooh” books. Tigger did not appear in the first “Winnie the Pooh” book, which was published in 1924. He made his first appearance in “The House at Pooh Corner”, which was published in 1928. 🐾🍃🍂🌳
For my birthday this year, my aunt took me to Ashdown Forest. What is that I hear you ask? Only the home of Winnie the Pooh! We ate at Pooh Corner, we played Pooh sticks on Pooh Bridge and we just generally had a brilliant time. Here are some of the brilliant photos she took of our trip.
