01. Taichi + Mimi

These two... I ship them platonically, but I definitely ship them romantically so much more. They are the OTP of otps after all.

I just have such a weakness for ships that on the surface don’t seem to have much in common, but when peeling off just one of the many layers, it becomes clear that they definitely can relate to each other so much more than initially thought. (See also Pacey/Joey, Dick/Artemis, Zuko/Katara f.e.)

Both are such passionate, tenacious, loud, opinionated people who love to have fun by being the goofballs they are and by teasing the people they love, but also care so deeply, they realise they have a lot of learning to do as they mature (tri has really shown this with Taichi’s hesitance and Mimi’s selfishness), so as extroverted as they are, they are very self-reflective and genuinely want to improve and do and be better, especially for the people they love and are devoted to. So they are evenly matched, they can keep each other on their toes with their witty, playful banter and replies, they can challenge each other like no one else would be able to do, and they wouldn’t be afraid to call each other’s shit out when necessary, because ultimately they would understand each other on a much deeper level, and therefore would be comfortable doing so because they would be comfortable with each other.

At least, that’s how I see them... 

02. Yamato or Sora

Okay, it’s not easy to choose between them as both characters are very alike, and I love how caring, understanding and intuitive both characters are (which is why I love them together). But if I really have to pick, which here I obviously have to, then I’d have to go with Yamato.

This is something that is often misinterpreted about his character, but Yamato isn’t just the brooding lone wolf stereotype. I love that deep down he’s this shy, sensitive dork who cares so much and is so protective of the people he loves the most (especially of Takeru, Sora and Jyou)! That little moment where he gets so scared of the horror story Takeru is telling the group, he can’t even hide it, is so amazing. (In my mind Takeru knew that Yamato is not a horror fan and just loves to tease him so much.) Him distancing himself is a way to protect himself, a defense mechanism. Which is something I honestly relate to.
