Heeyyy so I’ve been lurking lately and never really got around to posting my results  🎓🎓🎓 I’ve now finished University (graduation ceremony happening next year) with a First Class Honours Degree in Costume for Theatre and Screen That competition I entered? I was awarded The Highly Commended (2nd place) Award at The Costume Society Patterns of Fashion Award with my 1837-41 Morning Dress (hand sewn, pictured) Michele Clapton (Costume designer for Game of Thrones/ The Crown/The Secret Garden) was judging the award and took a particular interest in my work and offered me further work in the film industry (Michele has never offered this to previous finalists or this years winner), it took a couple of months but today I was able to confirm my place in her workroom and I start next month!! I’m now moving back up to London this weekend. ⭐⭐⭐ Wishing my fellow grads and continuing uni students all the best💖

Hey studyblr community I’m back! Even if its just momentarily to say I submitted everything for my mid year hand in. My dress is finished (500 hours of hand sewing yeah baby), I am so pleased with my dress and have received so much positive feedback. I’m happy with my decision to make it despite the ridiculous risk I took! 2/10/19 | 100 Days of Productivity Day 9/100 Smocking Smocking Smocking (continued) Today I smocked the sleeve toile of the bodice, this took approximately 6 hours. I brought it with me to a lecture in the morning occasionally making direct eye contact with the lecturer, needle in hand... I graded the smocking to be at 1cm widths through this sits higher than the original pattern, this isn't a big deal for the toile stage but for my actual dress I’ll reduce it down to 0.8mm widths. This will bring the smocking down by 2.6cm which should reduce it to sit within the original pattern, it may sit a few mm higher or lower due to the curve of the sleeve head in some places but the smocking will conceal any misbehaving millimetres! I will pull the threads taunt tomorrow and attach it to the bodice. Please open the first picture for better quality and to see just how tiny the stitches are!!! I hope to have my toile finished by the end of the week, my silk arrived today and I’ll be ordering the glazed cotton lining tomorrow.
