#artistic protest

In all. I did twenty images, choosing some from my Tar Beach Series [2016], and the rest from Camera Roll [2013], all of them black and white, and most importantly all of the images wouldn't even as much as trigger the algo previously. I have decided that I will post the new series Request Second Review [2025] throughout the day, unlike my normal post I will not annotate it with "Photo by Trevor Brown", I will just add two hashtags #RequestSecondReview #TrevorBrown

I haven't decided if I will post any other comment on my intimate blog, but I think I will try to post this short essay on my digital obituary, with as many images that don't generate dings, only because I don't want the entry to be hidden from folks. I did post one from the series where I am nude to the pubic area, and nothing else shows, and it was so hilarious that it triggered the algo again, even though I used the content label to cover my nipples, it was clearly the genital region which partially shows the smallest area of my pubic hair which must have offended the code. Or it could be that my gender is elusive, and anyone conservative might want more clearly defined genders in the photos they allow. Or it could just be because I am Black, you just never know.

Normally I don't do digital creations, I am not saying I never do, because clearly I have the Photoshop skills to edit images, but I felt this was appropriate for presenting digital work in a digital space to make a digital commentary or protest. I am sure no one will even notice my little protest, but it's more for me than others. I had thought maybe I should post something on Reddit, but I have never been a Reddit user other than using the platform to pull down higher resolution of images I am seeking. I then thought maybe a community on Tumblr, and once again I rejected that idea, because that isn't who I have ever been. Doing those kinds of things are attempts to get a community consensus, and that isn't really necessary for me. I know they're wrong, I don't need other people to tell me what I already understand.

More than anything I wanted to relieve my emotions around my work being given scarlet letters for no particular reason. I attempted to see if there was anything posted by the Tumblr staff, and could only fine post from a month ago. I am sure others have noticed this change, and I guess most are proceeding with business as usual, as I said I stopped making new post, and am just re-blogging things I posted in the last few days that got zero notes, and or no flag. That is a form of protest also albeit I a still using the platform.

I have lost all of the social media sites I was previously on, I just don't feel like giving up this last little toe I have in the social media world, even though what occurs on my blog is hardly social. The comments I get in my DMs are usually from doms looking for subs, and random women probably bots who don't realize I am strictly dickly.

Once in a while there is a genuine comment in my box or on my post, but further exploration usually reveals that person has some kind of sexual fetish. It is rare someone just comments for the sake of enjoying what was artistically presented, and that continually saddens me, but then I remember where I am, a platform which was at one time known as a pornographic and anything else that society would find undesirable, until Apple put their foot down. I guess I need to let folks be who they are, because this will not be a place where I will get affirmations for my artistic integrity or expression.
