I kind of wish they had gone better - I really liked their relationship in runaways

Shinigami Arctic meets Foeslayer again after 2,000 years. They make up and get back together.

Arctic never manipulated or attempted to change who Foeslayer was even with his all powerful magic giving him the power to do so

What makes Darksight different (and worse) is that Darkstalker was willing to control Clearsight, and when he "recreated" her, he never accepted the parts of Clearsight that made Clearsight who she was

Before anyone else brings it up, yes Arctic is a shitty awful emotionally abusive father who denied his daughter the agency he unwaveringly gave his wife, but the topic is his treatment of Foeslayer alone.

All they have in common is being Icewing Princes who are products of an abusive family and society, yet even that is something they react completely differently to.

Arctic is bold, impulsive, and rather selfish, Winter is naturally empathetic and sensitive

Arctic wanted nothing more than freedom from the shackles of Icewing society, Winter wanted to be a part of it and please his family

Arctic was important and the Icewings wanted him retrieved, Winter is as unimportant as a royal could be and is treated as discardable

Diamond for all her many sins loved Arctic and never wanted him dead, Narwhal and Tundra actively sent Winter to his death

Arctic’s capability to love started and ended with Foeslayer, he would let anyone die as long as they were together, his tribe or hers. Winter cares more about the greater good than about Moon, as seen with him being rightfully horrified that she’s friends with someone committing a genocide against his family and tribe.

For better and or for worse, Arctic and Foeslayer were twin flames. They were incredibly similar, which may have been why there were sparks flying from their first conversation that made them immediately click, yet it also meant they shared many of the same flaws leading to their constant fights and overall toxicity.

Winter and Moon are nothing of the sort, just like how Winter is the opposite of Arctic, Moon is pretty much the opposite of Foeslayer, who was every bit as intense and passionate as Arctic. Unlike Arcticslayer’s love which built on idealism (even if the relationship was manipulated by the Nightwings, Arctic and Foeslayer’s feelings were not), Winter & Moon’s build up for potential romance wasn’t natural like that. Sure her mind reading may have helped her see a side of him that he buried down to fit Icewing standards, but I feel like she’s a pretty deliberate parallel to Clearsight, with Qibli being the version of Darkstalker that Clearsight would have wanted, who rejected power by being too much of a simp.
