HELLAΣTOCK ‘14: the Hanging City
2014, Athens - Piraeus, Greece Workshop curated by HELLAΣTOCK, part of Bellastock Team: EvangeLia Mori _ Marianna Fotopoulou _ Christine Kalampouka _ Xenia Sotiropoulou _ Ralou Syleouni
The Scenario: “2 specific conditions [...] the emergency of provisionally locating a large number of people within the urban environment [...], the need to move this type of housing away from the ground and be hanged from above[...] “
Before the workshop: The design of the proposed 5-person-shelter, takes into consideration the habitants’ needs of isolation and social meeting, while making open and closed spaces of the same importance.
During the workshop: During the in situ construction the design had to be implemented because of static solutions and the need of neighbor dialogue, thus some changes had occurred maintaining though its original character. Through the cooperation of different teams an ephemeral city was born.
