Kenya School Designed by Nuru Karim
This school project explores how natural materials and climate-responsive architecture can create meaningful educational spaces rooted in local context and sustainability.
Using straw and timber as primary construction materials, the design embraces lightweight structures, natural ventilation, and textured surfaces that connect the building closely to its environment.

Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins (September 7, 1930 ā May 25, 2026)
Born in 1930 in New York to parents from the Virgin Islands, Rollins began playing alto saxophone around age eight. He also played piano, and at age 16, picked up the tenor saxophone after being inspired by Coleman Hawkins. He began performing professionally after graduating from high school in 1948, playing with the likes of Bud Powell and Roy Haynes.
In the 1950s, he began releasing albums at a steady clip, first as a sideman to Miles Davis before delivering a series of records as a bandleader, includingĀ Work Time,Ā Tenor MadnessĀ and his celebrated 1956 albumĀ Saxophone Colossus. He took hiatuses from music in 1959 and 1966, but always eventually came back to making music. His last album was 2006āsĀ Sonny, Please.
He received a Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy in 2004, and is a National Medal of Arts honoree and a Kennedy Center Honoree, in addition to having received honorary doctorates from six universities, including Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music.
Mr. Rollins retired from performing in 2014 due to respiratory issues from pulmonary fibrosis, and in 2017, he donated his archives to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Shell Book Pavilion,
Fountain Plaza, North Zone, Shine Hills, Shunyi District, Beijing, China,
The structureĀ doesĀ not simply open and close. Between these two states lies a continuous spectrum of possibilities. It can be fully open, half open, partially closed, nearly closed, and fully shut. Each state creates a different form, spatial atmosphere, and relationship with people.
Fully open, it feels like a public stage unfolding outward. Half open, it stays connected to the outside while offering a strong sense of shelter. Partially or nearly closed, it becomes quieter and more introverted, like a shell gently drawn inward.
This gradual transformation also plays an important role in actual use. During reading sessions, for instance, the speaker is initially within the closed shell, then gradually revealed to the audience as it opens. In this way, the space becomes part of the eventānot as a static backdrop, but as an active presence that unfolds with it, lending the entire experience a subtle sense of ceremony.
Despite its light, shell-like appearance, the project is conceived at an architectural scale rather than as a small installation. When fully opened, the roof spans over 40 square meters, measuring approximately 8 meters by 6 metersādefining a public space for lingering and sheltering. The interior height ranges from 2.5 meters to 4.2 meters, ensuring comfort for reading, gathering, and activities.

"Violet Frosted" by Marius Boekhorst
Through precise arrangement of geometric glass pieces and carefully selected florals, Marius Boekhorst orchestrates a multi-layered optical experience that sits between static composition and quiet motion.
Patterned (textured) glass, resin, and artificial flowers,
Because Boekhorst creates unique, hand-sculpted works, you may find other pieces in the same stylistic family with slightly different specifications.

Regenerative vegan house, Kagoshima Japan,
Yakushima in southern Japan, with abundant rainfall meets almost 100% of its electricity demand through hydroelectric power.
This building, positioned to harmonize with existing vegetation, rocks and natural spring water, is a regenerative house that not only lets residents feel close to nature but also aims to enrich the natural cycle.
Made from natural, plant-based materials can also be called a "Vegan House," as it is in-tune with the lifestyle of the residents. Its ethical framework that respects life is a concept that redefines the principles of sustainability.

Lat Family Eco-Lodge, Mazandaran Province, Iran,
LAT Eco-Lodge is a context-driven mountain retreat on the northern hillside with minimal site impact.
Modular units emerge organically from the terrain. Parts of each sloped roof serve as shared terraces for upper units, echoing vernacular terraced settlements.
Built with glulam timber and native āLatā technique, roofs are insulated with local āFoushā soil, which compacts and becomes more impermeable with foot traffic.
The project links landscape, material culture, and spatial continuity.
