Ichi Imori - Base System Installed
Current mod: Accomplished
I followed the Beginner's Guide, so things went great. There were a few figurative detours along the way, though.
Since I was using VirtualBox, I had to figure how to install the virtual HDD. I ended up with mounting the virtual drive, then formatting to btrfs.
I pinged to Kjos Ministries due to the site being VERY light. (Kjos Ministries is also a site that I use to test a connection to see if the connection is non-existent or just very slow, among other tests I do. I also visit Kjos Ministries for the site itself a lot.) Oddly, I did not have to do any configuration myself for the Internet...
I did not install pacman repository mirrors, since this was just a test drive.
The locale was English from the Great Britain. The font was DejaVu Sans (a favorite of mine due to its similarity to the Pokemon TCG font). The keyboard was not changed in case I need to rely on the keyboard, which is hard-wired to United States QWERTY.
There was a bit of work towards getting to my locale. I discovered that I needed o go to Americas -> Puerto Rico.
I had to reinstall multilib...
I ended up installing GRUB by hand, since there is no previous OS in the virtual drive. This turnd out to be a learning experience, since I needed to tell GRUB what is the ID of the virtual drive, so I gained experience. (I even figured out this myself!)
I needed to take some time in logging in, mainly because not only is the system name and the user name similar, but also because names are case-sensitive.
...now to install the rest of the operating system!
