Varian, Champion of Arahbo
Signature Spellbook: Varian
Introducing my new fanwalker: Varian, Champion of Arahbo! I decided to show off his Hero Forge design (the spots were added on by me separately) alongside what I imagine his Signature Spellbook to be since I’ve had the spellbook planned for months.
Arahbo is a cheetah-like catfolk from Alara who lived along the border of Bant and Naya after the Conflux. His spark ignited when he was almost killed by horrors from Grixis. He was ready to lay down his life to allow a leonin knight and their leotau mount to escape, but once they were gone he could no longer fend the horrors off. However, rather than dying, Varian found himself on the snowy mountain peaks of a distant plane. The mountains were home to Arahbo, a primordial avatar that represented everything a cat should be. After Varian completed a special trial, Arahbo named Varian his champion, and the champion of all cat-kind within the Multiverse.
Under Arahbo’s training, Varian learned to channel four types of mana. White and Green came the easiest to Varian, with Blue and Red coming later as he thought of his connections to Bant and Naya on Alara. By channeling mana, Varian is able to summon cats from across an entire plane to his side. In addition, he can temporarily summon the avatars of some of the most legendary cats in the multiverse.
Still needing to learn how to harness Black mana, Arahbo has sent Varian to Dominaria to learn from the panthers of Urborg. Being a primordial being, Arahbo is able to follow Varian between planes in the form of a small house cat.

#cm17 time! Went to my lgs to pick up the set Ben and I pre-ordered, we split the cost, cats and dragons being my babies, though we will totally be pilfering cards from each other's deck after we take them all for a test drive. Giving the kitties a try first! I can't wait to tweak the decks, going to definitely fix the mess that is the Mana base in dragons, turn O-Kagachi into a spirit deck and make the kitties more token horde.
