Red and black spider

Today is dedicated to this little one hanging on my car.

A lovely jumping spider. sooooo cute. I love these little guys. they have tons of personality.

And with what power the Spider Goddess could permit, she made the first Drider; granting them new legs, deadly venom and the ability to incapacitate threats to herself or the Drow Cities. Driders themselves became the first real defense the Drow people had when it came into invading forces-what wild life the Underdark hosted didn't managed to pick off from invaders, the Driders would quickly and efficiently tidy up.

For many centuries, Driders when they did crop up were regarded as cryptids, cautionary sad stories, but also celebrated and honored, going as far as having a Feast day called 'Spinneret's Day', a holiday that honored the Driders by playing music loud enough for them to hear it even far off into the Underdark wilds and leaving them gracious offerings, as well as trinkets, comfort items and letters of gratitude. Often times this was done by families who by some way or another were aware a lost family member had become a Drider and wished to extend at least the kindness of giving their loved ones what they need to survive.
