The Starry Long Legs

Dalmo's Notes:

"I completely understand why this planet's night would startle even the hardest of explorers, but staying in ships far above the surface means I'd miss out on amazing creatures like this one!

While their patterns are always lovely, I think their webs are the most spectacular, as Starry Long Legs weave their webs in forms that look like constellations! If you can ignore the lifeless bodies of it's prey nestled into the large nodes.. Oh, I could never hate these aggressive nightlights!"

Olimar's Notes:

The Starry Long Legs is an anomaly among many of it's family, whereas many Arachnorbs choose to create small territories for their homes, this specimen chooses a more free-flowing lifestyle, setting up their webs, and leaving them at night to hunt for slumbering prey.

The many white points dotting it's feet and central stripe are used to sense vibrations and detect heat signatures, and the star-shaped patterns adorning it's body are used both as lighting points, but also as a form of counterillumination. It's most interesting method of hunting is it's strategy with webbing, connecting strands from point to point, allowing secret yet swift coordination to position themselves above their prey without detection.

Don't take their seemingly nonconfrontational hunting strategy as a sign of weakness however, for in the rare cases of prey discovering the Starry Long Legs, instead of backing off, they'll begin to attack with ruthlessness, and as opposed to usual Arachnorb behavior, it'll purposely stride toward the prey, seeking out weak spots like limbs or heads. Once their prey has been secured, they'll wrap it in their strands and drag it to it's web, storing them for consumption in the morning."

Louie's Notes:

"Due to these animals' usual efforts to gatekeep their flavor, I took to snagging some of their catch from their web. However, as I was retreating, the creature had returned, and quickly chased me down, but I managed to escape. However, every night I spend on this planet, I can't help but feel like I'm being watched.."

The white patterns on it's crushers are sensory organs that it mainly uses to detect vibrations, primarily for heart rates.
