Everyone on Twitter is obsessing over this Artemis and Apollo NASA patch I have.
'Astronaut' is probably one of the most beautiful words I've ever heard.
It is the combination of two ancient Greek words, άστρον (star) and ναύτης (sailor).
Astronaut literally means star sailor.
Go Artemis.
Consoles used in the firing room for the launch of Apollo 8, taken at Kennedy Space Center. They're now part of their wonderful Apollo 8 presentation, but in 1968, engineers sat at these consoles to give the final go/no go for launching humans around the Moon for the very first time.
Drives me insane seeing people criticize stages and capsules as “obsolete” or “a step backward”
Compared to what? The space shuttle? SpaceX? Blue Origin? Virgin Galactic?
Those haven’t taken anyone to the moon.
NASA had to build SLS out of spare odds and ends and it’s still going farther than any of the billionaire brigade.
