what they actually mean is

"you should trust and understand someone before you commit to a partnership where there are expectations and obligations on both sides"

but they use platonic and romantic relationships as shorthands for those ideas.. it irks koii

you don't need platonic attraction to have a bond!

romantic isn't just "one step up" from platonic!

some people never experience platonic attraction or have platonic bonds ever!

what to replace it with? adoration? obssession? i'm not sure.

as if all other attractions are inherently tied to platonic and cannot exist without it or develop without the presence of it initially
