She turned to meet the face of the voice who’d spoken to her; at first she had the full intention of apologizing to him for accidentally knocking him over, but when she saw him, she froze for a moment. Her eyes narrow and her brows pinch together. He stood out a fair bit in the Marketplace, she thought. Nobody else had an ugly face like that. Or on second thought, given a moment to examine, maybe it wasn’t actually his face. Was it a mask? Why would anybody want to wear such an ugly mask?
After a long moment of staring at the masked man, she then realized that he had asked for an apology, her big eyes got bigger and her brows perked up. “ Oh! ” She puffed, “ I’m sorry, I didn’t — it was an accident. ”
She’d taken a step back and offered an awkward smile that soon faded away. She usually wasn’t clumsy and it was a genuine mistake but butterflies freaked her out. She didn’t like them. She can’t be the only one. They always fly in your face like they’re trying to attack you.
Alita had noticed the weapons hanging from his hips. Two long swords. She shouldn’t assume that he’s a Hunter Warrior just because he has those on him; there was no law that stated other people couldn’t carry weapons. Pretty sure the Factory couldn’t care less.
“ What’s up with the mask? ”
