Breaking the Cosmic Speed Limit
We’ve all spent time staring up at the night sky, just daydreaming about what's out there. But if I’m being completely honest, when I look up lately, I feel a little frustrated. Knowing that our current spacecraft are basically crawling through the infinite void of space drives me crazy.
Think about it: Voyager 1 is the fastest human-made object moving away from us, and at its current speed, it would take over 70,000 years to reach Proxima Centauri, our nearest stellar neighbor. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of time to wait around.
While researching the theoretical frameworks for interstellar travel this week, it honestly blew my mind to see how close some of these "sci-fi" concepts are to actual, hard mathematics. We absolutely have to ditch chemical rockets if we want to cross the cosmic ocean.
Here are the 3 mind-bending technologies physicists are actually working on to get us there:
Light Sails (Surfing on Lasers): Instead of carrying massive, heavy fuel tanks, we leave the engine on Earth. By blasting an ultra-thin sail in space with a massive array of lasers, we could accelerate micro-probes to 20% the speed of light. We could literally reach Alpha Centauri in just 20 years. This is the one I believe we will actually see happen in our lifetime.
Antimatter Rockets (The Ultimate Energy): If we want to send actual humans, we need serious power. When matter and antimatter collide, they annihilate each other, converting into 100% pure energy. It's the ultimate fuel efficiency. But storing a substance that will violently explode the microsecond it touches the wall of its container? I definitely wouldn't want to be the guy sitting on top of that fuel tank.
The Alcubierre Warp Drive (Bending Reality): This is my absolute favorite. Instead of trying to push a ship faster than light, we bend spacetime itself. We put the ship in a "warp bubble," compress space in front of it, and expand it behind it. The ship sits still while the universe moves around it. The best part? No time dilation. You wouldn't come back home to find out everyone you love has aged a century.
I wrote a massive deep dive into the physics behind these technologies, the massive engineering hurdles we still face, and why I believe we are destined to leave this solar system. If you want to geek out with me on the details, you can check out my full breakdown right here:
I mean, reaching Alpha Centauri in just a few decades? Sign me up. Let’s talk about how we are going to break the ultimate cosmic speed limi
Now, I have to ask: If you knew all the immense risks, but you also knew you'd be the very first human to see a completely alien star system up close... would you take a seat on that first experimental warp ship? Let me know what you think!

Antimatter // Fear of a unique identity
hihihihiiiii😚😚😚
youu know how you have the on hold best friend noah series where the reader is like kinda hooking up with noah kinda got a thing with him kinda besties???
how do you think the rest of your noahs with their distinctive personalities (velvet, hedonist, who are you, summer boy, antimatter, bloodsport, no place like you) would be/ would act as your kinda flirty kinda sexy kinda more than friends bestie???
(best friend noah lives in my head rent free)
omg i've had this thought a few times!! i've wondered what it'd be like if you were besties (with benefits) with the different noahs 🤭🤭 also, i've ended up writing a lot more for this than i intended 🫣
warnings: nsfw- nothing explicit, but mentions of sex, toys and masturbation. also, i only included who are you, antimatter, hedonist and velvet since i've written the most for them!

How do you store something that explodes if it touches ANYTHING?
Antimatter is the universe's most dramatic substance. Touch it with matter? 💥 Gone. Both of you. In a flash of pure energy.
So scientists got creative.
They don't put it in a box. They put it in nothing.
🧲 Penning trap: A magnetic field makes particles spin in circles. An electric field pushes them back and forth. Result = an invisible cage. The antimatter floats in the middle, touching nothing at all.
🌀 Ultra-high vacuum: Emptier than the space between stars. Even one gas molecule ruins everything.
🥶 Extreme cold: Minus 265°C. Cold particles are slow. Slow particles stay put.
🚛 Mobile traps: In November 2025, CERN loaded antimatter onto a truck and drove it around campus. It worked. First time ever.
Antimatter storage isn't magic. It's physics at its most elegant.
