Glue for ceramics that will be safe to drink from?
"Your turn!" Anouke popped up out of nowhere to take yet another fancy magic photo, this time of Gamal. Pleased with the resulting image, they handed it over with a quill just like they'd done with his prissy cousin. "Now I'll have TWO autographs in my collection! I just have to figure out whose I want next. Minkah already said no, so that's out of the question. What do you think?" They asked, blinking their large white eyes with an excited smile.
Gamal would normally be delighted to have his picture taken, especially from Anouke, but did they just say he was their second autograph? Not even the first?! Of course Lothaire was the first - he was the favorite, after all. It seemed like he was everyoneās favorite nowadays. He stared at the photo, wondering if he should even give Anouke the satisfaction of signing it, but in the end his pride got the best of him. He took the quill, quickly scratched his name onto the top of the photo, and handed the quill back. āOh, I donāt know, Iām sure you can make all kinds of new friends.ā There was no way he was hiding the bitterness in his voice. āAsk Lothaire, he knows all kinds of people.ā He glanced away, an obvious and bitter frown on his face. He grumbled under his breath, pissier than ever, his blackened heart aching with jealousy.
"Smile for the camera!" Anouke said, hands up as if actually holding such an item and waiting for Lothaire to strike a proper pose. There was a quick snapping sound and a bright flash, but no physical camera existed, only Anouke's legendary magic. "Great, perfect. Now you have to sign it; I'm collecting autographs now and you're the first one!" They explained, handing over a large picture of the pale demon and an elegant quill.
Lothaire was sure this was some kind of joke, but when the flash hit his eyes, he blinked rapidly and his confident smile transformed into a look of surprise. Did that really work?! Sure enough, there was a picture, manifested out of thin air for him to see and touch with his own giant hands. He took the quill, staring at it as if to see if that, too, was made of magic and glitter and pixie dust. He shrugged his shoulders - magic was magic, he had to learn to accept that! He positioned his hand over the picture and one giant hand glided over the surface, making a big, loopy signature that was surprisingly beautiful even with his peculiar monster appendages. āThere!ā He dotted his āiā and crossed his ātā with a proud smile. āHere you are, your grace. Itās an honor.ā
"No, no, Iām not alright. Iām definitely not alright!" Anouke confessed with a quick shake of their head, sending their ridiculous lengths of hair flying in all directions. "After all this, I don't know who to trust anymore. Is it even worth it to try to make friends?" They wondered out loud, pacing at the edge of the water. "Humans can be cruel. Demons can be even worse. They all disappear eventually for one reason or another; so what's the point? Will it really just be Minkah and I forever?"
The last thing Lothaire wanted to do was to help his cousin continue his deceitful ways, but even he couldnāt deny that he knew the truth - Gamal had a horrible soft spot for Anouke, and sometimes, even demons could be hurt. He cared far too much for them.Ā āI know he abused your trust.ā Lothaire began, gesturing with a monstrous hand as he paced back and forth slowly.Ā āAnd it was wrong of him. So very wrong of him. I cannot condone his activities and I most certainly donāt agree with what he did. But that doesnāt necessarily mean you should lose hope in all people. Gamal isā¦well, heās a trickster demo. Lying and deceiving is what heās supposed to do, and he does it very well. But, though it kills me to admit it, I will say that I believe he regrets hurting you from the bottom of his heart. Iām not saying he deserves a second chance. He doesnāt. Just know that he hurts tooā¦ā

"You're probably already aware, but your cousin doesn't seem to know how to keep your name out of his mouth." Anouke commented idly to Gamal while tying little braids into their long midnight hair. "Earlier he came up to me telling me all about what a wicked joker you are and how all you do is use people. Honestly, it's like he thinks I was born yesterday and haven't known you for thousands of years or however long it's been!"
Of course Lothaire was getting involved; he could never just stay out of things. The guy may have been a gentleman to some, but he was a meddler too, always sticking his nose in Gamalās business and making things difficult. But like hell he was going to ruin Gamalās friendship with Anouke. There were some things that even a demon considered precious, perhaps even sacred.
āDonāt listen to him.ā He rolled his eyes with a loud groan. āHeās young. You know heās only a few hundred years old, right? He doesnāt know anything, heās just blowing smoke as usual.ā He reached over, lightly grabbing one of Anoukeās little braids between his fingers and turning the end to tickle their face like a long black brush. He may not have been planning on taking advantage of Anoukeās trust, but annoy them? Most definitely. āBesides, if I mistreated you, youād kick my ass and my ass is too damn pretty to get kicked.ā
"What are you so happy about? Whatās that thing youāve got there?" Anouke asked curiously, leaning over and trying to get a better look at whatever it was Gamal had that made him grin so wide. Of course, he always seemed to have a smile on his face, but he seemed particularly amused today. "Did you get new tribute? Catch a scarab? Find a rare flower? Come on, out with it!"
Ah, yes, they were crawling right into Gamalās innocent little trap. Though he enjoyed bothering Minkah the most, mainly because their reactions were always gold, that didnāt mean he wouldnāt pick on Anouke now and then. āHere, come closer and Iāll show you.ā he whispered, cupping his hands together as if holding something still so it wouldnāt escape. He put his hands up to Anoukeās face and opened his palms, revealingā¦nothing. But while their face was so close to his hands, he pinched their nose with an annoying āhonkā noise, laughing like an asshole immediately after. āHah! Funny every single time.ā he said, reaching beside himself to pick up a lovely hibiscus he found near the river. āBut in all honesty, here you are. Your rare flower.ā He put it in their hair as a kind gesture, surprisingly gentle with friends even after being a complete pain in the ass just moments earlier.
