Happy Monday everyone!!!! For this week's #MondayMuse I am excited to tell a story. Whenever I loan out copies of my books I annotate them first. That way the people who borrow them know it is okay to add their thoughts and feelings in the margins as well. This is one of my many @realiainsthomas books. He's signed 3 of my favorite copies of his books (I own minimum 3 copies of all his books) and slowly but surely this is becoming a new favorite. It's taken on a life of its own that I never expected. It has been read and added to from every house I've lived in since it's release, in each new stage of life since then as well. It started out as just text - but now has illustration, colors, and more memories than poetry or photography on their own would ever know how to convey. I know not everyone feels comfortable writing in books, but if you've never tried this. I think that's the muse this week. Find a book you love. Annotate it. And share it. Every time it comes back the experience is heightened and changed. A time capsule. An ongoing conversation. A piece of artistry. Someday I hope this is how every copy of any book I've crafted will live. What are your muses this week? ✨The Art of #annotating ✨ Once again, I’ve been getting lots of questions as to the tabs/highlighters/pens I’m using, how I annotate, etc. so I’m dedicating this post to making a foolproof starter kit & basically. Also since I have been seeing the art of annotating challenge making it’s rounds and it’s so adorable! I have a video too on my YouTube channel on how I annotate my books the very basic version, link in bio So I’ll be calling this 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 101 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴: part 1—starter kit, as follows: — book tabs • I have the translucent ones in various colours just so I have an option to color-match the tabs I use with the books I reading but you can use whatever color you prefer, no pressure. — pens • I don’t use pens directly in the book, I don’t particularly enjoy writing in my book. I use transparent sticky notes if I want to write something. I use a permanent marker on the sticky notes as it’s plastic, either a pencil or a ball pen works too. But my go to brands are micron & brusto. — highlighters • I’m also not inclined to specific brands but I buy sharpie highlighters or staedtler. I usually buy sets because they’re cheaper to buy in bulk. — sticky notes (optional) • I use different colours of sticky notes in different books for writing the key; as in what coloured tab stands for what. I stick it on the last page of the book. QOTD- do you annotate books? What you usually highlight? I recently started annotating and tabbing books and i really enjoy it. I'm still not comfortable using marker or pen as I'm sure I'll mess the book, pencil is safe for me. I usually mark quotes, important or memorable scenes, turning points and write my thoughts in margin or at the end of chapter. So I put sticky notes and tab a lot. I do have a template I use but I also try to color coordinate with the book so the colors are constantly changing. Oh how I love this cover. Hello! I’m almost done my buddy read of Let Me In by @rmvirtues with @queerlyreading and I’m really loving it so far! I plan to finish it today during my commute home and I’m so excited to see how everything wraps up. This is a guaranteed five stars once I finish! Dio and Athena have such amazing chemistry both in and out of the bedroom, re-affirming my stance on friends-to-lovers being an amazing dynamic. I’ve definitely been taking my time with this one, compared to how I flew through the first two, but that’s entirely the formatting rather than the book itself. My brain has a hard time processing the amount of empty space in these pages, but I love reading these books physically too much to switch formats! I have to be able to tab and annotate!
