I just don't get how someone that preaches about anti-imperialism and how The West is such an all evil colonizer entity that the people in it will never even be able to offer proper analysis of international media gets to also praise China as the antithesis of it all while also claiming Taiwan to be Part of China.

Continue from Bakuman ask. I found interesting thoughts from Tumblr and even Quora on why it was like that. There are so many people talking about the misogynist problem in Japan. Maybe that's how Japanese society views women. I have never gone to Japan so, I don't know any single detail about this.
Agreed, I try not to pretend I actually know much about it because I haven't lived there either and I don't know a ton about it myself. The closest I've come to personal experience with Japanese culture is having a Japanese roommate for a while and living with a bunch of Japanese exchange students in a dorm, but the language barrier made it difficult to get into any conversations about more complicated stuff like that. And I think it's also important to keep in mind that sexism in media is by no means exclusively a Japanese issue, either. Tons of western media has very similar issues with sexism and poor representation and objectification of girls and women as well, in movies and shows and comics and books and games and everything else. The statistics on this for things like children's media in America are pretty atrocious from what I remember, in that it's totally normalized for the male characters to outnumber females 3 to 1 and have nearly all the important speaking roles and such. But I'm glad that people all over the world have been acknowledging these biases and working on improving it in things being made now and in the future as well.
